It’s the smoke from the wild fires causing this. SFO Tyke might correct me but I think in terms of spread they’re bigger than the ones that caused so much damage a couple of years ago but they haven’t affected as many populated areas - plus it’s way down the pecking order in terms of reporting with everything else going on. It’s been over 100 degrees outside the Bay Area for almost two weeks straight and that isn’t helping at all.
I imagine it’s much like Hawaii which was the same, it’s just too expensive to live there so it’s really easy to fall in hard times. The amount of homelessness there was absolutely staggering.
I thought it was bad walking around Leeds, Manchester or London. But the American cities were at a completely different level. San Fransisco was bad. Las Vegas was even worse. People drinking, smoking, gambling. While others were begging on the streets. The most depressing city I've ever been to. The national parks are bloody brilliant though. Is love to go back, but I'd never want to live there.
