Really? That's definitely a bad move then imo. A programme should definitely relate to the match otherwise it's just a fanzine
It does relate to the match, as was stated. But not as much. Buy a copy and let me know your thoughts. Bit silly to judge something otherwise.
I'll definitely buy a copy but just on the face of it the idea of it not being much more generic and less focused on the match it is about is much less appealing to me but it won't stop me buying a copy. The only thing putting me off buying at the moment is that I don't want to buy a subscription as I don't want them delivering to my home when I'm going to games but then it's a lot of hassle buying individually. Not the club's fault obviously
Personally I like the idea of having my proggy delivered home. It secures my copy for the big games when they often sell out at the ground, and it guarantees pristine condition regardless of weather or pocket size.
We did a survey in fairness and subscriptions seemed popular in terms of it being an option. Let me know when you’ve read it. I am super proud of this edition.
Got my copy this morning. Not read it all yet but impressed so far. I do think though that Mads deserves to have his name spelt correctly
Subscriptions are brilliant, I've been wanting that for years. In the future though when things are a bit more straight forward I'd recommend seeing if you can come up with some way of subscribing and picking up in the ground. Sales would definitely increase I think.
Not sure how they'd do it. Best way it would require an initial investment would be loading them up onto your season ticket card and the programme sellers having a scanner
Got to say it was a brilliant read and the best programme we have had in years so well done. It took ages to read after arriving in the post today. By putting "after 31st August" in the Athersley Rec article gave away it was written weeks ago. The Dane Murphy page would be better if he answered fan questions like the Romal Palmer article. Also can we have a word with who posts them out to have them put in a paper envelope instead of using single use plastic that's not environmentaly friendly? Be nice if the covers had a glossy finish to protect the programme better. Loved the big half a dozen or so pages with Struber which was in depth instead of more but far shorter interviews. Great feature on Taymour Roushdi and listing all he does I don't know how he finds the time to sleep nevermind have a social life. I always enjoy features on those behind the scenes. I didn't think I would care for reading about local businesses as it's nothing to do with football, but I enjoyed them too. I hope we give Athersley Rec a friendly next summer to help them out. Athersley has been through a lot on and off the pitch and I was shocked to see they are the 32nd worst place in the country. Keep up the good work.
Enjoyed the programme , used to collect them as a boy and young man . Really enjoyed this one plenty of interesting reading . I also enjoyed the feature on Taymour ,it’s always interesting seeing beyond the front line and the different aspects of what goes on in running the club behind the scenes and unsung heroes so to speak. A good read , plenty of content and insight as well as matchday info and still very reasonably priced .
Got mine today. It's excellent. It's evolved for the better and for a wider audience. Love the name too.
I recieved my copy yesterday as live on Isle of Man. I enjoyed reading the programme and certainly alot better than the one i bought at Oakwell in 1968 priced 6 pennies. Looking forward to the next programme and l always read the comments on the opposition. It may be an idea to have similar write ups on Barnsley players for those new to the team, or people like me now living away from t'tarn. However as a recent joiner to this forum, it is good to pick up a fair amount of local gossip and details of what is new at the club. There are a few Red supporters over here and being able to watch games on my computer is good but long to be back at any ground where the Reds are playing.
I think it’s really good, an interesting read and well produced. I like the features on the U23 and Academy players and the general mix of articles. In the programmes years ago there used to be a page written by a journalist, not necessarily about us but often worth a read. Worth looking at again?
We will have the odd piece from a local Journo. It won’t be the exact same features in every edition. They’ll swap around as we go along. I think we’ve got Doug from the Chronicle pencilled in for the third edition.
