We needed to keep hold of all our experience imo if we were going to push on. Luton have and I think its shown in their win today.

Are we actually, or is this just because he's recently left? What would he have offered? He could have had just as bad a game as Simoes etc.

We missed his energy. His eye for a pass and his link play ( if played correctly as a winger). Not to quote Keef but when you sell players for millions then shop in Poundland there’s only 1 result. We need to replace Jacob with quality very quickly.

We missed Brown's physical presence and ability in the air. Outmuscled today by a big, physical side.

Although he produced little - Brown had speed.
    Which we didn’t have today.
On that performance we can’t play Chaplin and Woodrow at the same time.
    Got to be changes.

Not been replaced yet in my opinion. He was the only forward player with any sort of physicality. If freezer was the replacement why hasn't he started a game yet?

Of course we are. Anybody that watched us last season before Brown moved up top know Woodrow & Chaplin aren’t suited to playing in a pair. Both good players in their own right but never a partnership in a million years.

Behind Mowatt he was our second most important player for me as we had no one else who could perform his role. If Chaplin’s out, Woodrow can move up top, if Woodrow’s out you’ve got Simoes or Thomas, if Solbauer’s out you’ve got Halme etc.

Without Brown we’ve not got a forward who can win headers, compete physically with centre backs or run in behind. Woodrow & Chaplin always want to drop deep with the ball to feet.

Those two last season were supported by the guile of Brown. Said it earlier in the week his efforts were underrated by many and are hard to replace. The Arsenal team of early 2000s had all the names but Wiltord was fast, nasty, tank that allowed the others to be the finesse and beautiful players they were. He defended from the front and did the leg work. Brown gave us that during the run in and showed his worth. O'Neill at Stoke saw that in him and knows the value of such a player, that's why Northern Ireland got to a Euros.
