Yep. And yet we sent them all out to the right people. OK, a small portion may have had issues, meaning we've had to graft the last few days even more to help them get sorted, but we believe we succeeded massively. And hopefully, now we've done it once, each further time should be easier. But after that, it's out of our control.
The code given to me by the club didn't work...isn't it firstly their responsibility?....tbh I'm a bit p***ed off ( I know its not your fault btw) my son and I spent a long time between us on the phone trying to get through to BFC to get a code, only to be given codes that didnt work.
More chance of me growing a fringe, sadly. Costly exercise. Not just in terms of setting that up, but staffing levels to make it work. For example - we use the centralised EFL iFollow platform, as do 16 of the 24 Championship clubs (I think). We're a three-man team. Three men covering media, marketing and communications. Derby County run their own platform. They have 16 staff covering media, marketing and communications. They even nicked the local BBC Radio Derby presenter (their version of Andy Giddings) to present and front 'Rams TV'.
We are given the codes by the EFL. They 'should' all work. From those 8,000 (roughly) codes, we then have to send out to our eligible fans. Like I say, we are trying to get to the bottom of it all. But feel free to email memberships@barnsleyfc.co.uk if indeed you believe the club should refund you etc.
Cheers for the insight. It's a shame that cost would stop us getting shut of a service that's given fans grief for years. It's a pain for you to send out codes on a game by game basis. I understand they don't know when fans can go back yet but they could have gave you 1 code to send out that covers September and then see from then what the government allow.
I do really feel for all at the club as it not anyones fault. This happened to me twice last season though and yesterday I only got to see about 30 seconds of the game. As you say people will say I didn't miss much but it's not the point. Now with it seeming I won't be allowed back in Oakwell until we have cured death itself I'm wondering if it's worth having the Membership at all. If I do cancel it I'm hurting the club and it's the EFLs fault. If I don't I'm paying for something that I can't use. Dilemma.
Thanks for that YT...one thing you could raise with BFC is the possibility of putting a queuing system in place for the phone lines, I think I got lucky on Friday as I only made 14 separate calls before I was answered, at least with the queuing system you know where you are in the waiting list.
We are still operating on small staffing levels due to the pandemic. I’d urge anyone to email memberships@barnsleyfc.co.uk if you are struggling to get through by phone.
Who should we write to to complain. The league or club? I cancelled iFollow a while ago as the service was so poor. Now again this service is rubbish. Only complaining will push the league or whoever to fix these things.
