Hopefully, we'll be in a position to use the cottage as a base and visit the various places on interest and spectacular scenery of North Wales.
I spend around 6-8 weeks a year in a cottage near Beddgelert forest, great views of Snowden too, love the whole area, said it before was looking to move out there a couple of years ago actually got as far as putting in a couple of offers on a couple of house in a little village called Talysarn just on the edge of the national park but never managed it, still hoping to one day to realise the dream, lovely people and area
Amazing seeing threads like this with me living in North Wales. All these places mentioned are all within a 45 min drive and sometimes very guilty of overlooking how beautiful the place is. Went to Betws y coed today. Lovely village!
I'd move there tomorrow given the chance, father in law was a mountain instructor at Plas y Blenin, in the 80's and has been visiting and working in area for decades so knows the area very well and is always giving us pointers to hidden gems when ever we are out there. I was actually married in Bangor, and spent every Christmas and New year at Rhyd Ddu near Beddgelert since 2014. Ongoing health issues have kept me away this year, it was actually a walk in Beddgelert forest that has potentially saved my life as it brought a tumor in leg to my notice and prompted getting it checked out, just hearing about the places mentioned in the thread have put a lump in my throat, especially given I don't know when I'll be well enough to get back there
Where in Bangor did you get married? I got married there too at the registry office lived in Bangor for 6 years before moving to Llandudno.
Same, it was a choice me and the wife wanted to do having fallen in love with the area and like I said the plan is to one day move out there, your so lucky to live with all that on your doorstep, I'm so jealous
from Merthyr but lived in Bangor/Menai Bridge for thee years. There isn't a day goes by that I don't think about the amazing Suspension Bridge (Pont Grog y Borth) - built in 1826 it's a fantastic structure and of course before the roadway was built on top of the railway bridge the only means of crossing the Menai Straits by car. MT - every time I see a post from you I see an image of the bridge!
Lol, no doubt but you're slowly getting closer with every move. That's a shame, I'll let the wife know
MT - ever been to Church Island - Menai Bridge - something interesting happened to me there when I was a student.............
Church Island - lost something there - something you can only lose once - but quite happy to have lost it! too much information I know. Have you ever been to Llanfair P G Church - right by the Straits - statue to Nelson there and there's a Memorial to those who were killed during the construction of the Bridge.
