You said the club would have no choice because if the barriers but to develop and build a new ground and the council flog it off for Housing They have no asset to sell to fund this so would need to pay for tilt themselves.
I'm not bothered where they play it's just a ground, have been going 40 years. The football won't be any better no matter where we play I'd travel to Man City's ground if it meant we played like them
Standard practice on commercial property you are responsible for repairs while ever you hold the lease.
But surely it wouldn't be Barnsley fc then.all this moving around is wrong. Rev. Preedy founded the club for Barnsley people not Doncaster, Manchester or wherever they move to. If oakwell has to go, then the next ground for BARNSLEY fc should be in the borough even if it means playing at worsbro bridge or athersley rec
If it isn't in Barnsley it isn't Barnsley. **** the owners It's only a matter of time before they ruin us, whether it's with Oakwell or some other nonsense
sort of got lost after page 2 of this thread.... 2 Questions. 1) Who owns what at present? 2a) What are Conway and his group trying to do? b) What are the Crynes wanting ? c) What is the Council's position? Thanks!
Chien and Co own 80 percent of the footballing side and the Crynes hold 20 percent. The Council and the Cryne's both hold 50 percent of the ground each.
Excellent SD - thanks - now - What are Chien and co wanting What do the Crynes want What does the council want?
My understanding is the Crynes have instigated legal proceedings against the Conway/Lee consortium for monies which the latter agreed to pay the Crynes as part of the deal to sell the bulk of their interests in Barnsley FC. The Conway/Lee consortium have retaliated by saying that there was an agreement to sell a 50% holding in Oakwell but are citing that they didn't know that a third party had an option to buy the land that the stadium stands on. BMBC say they have never been approached by the consortium with a view to buying their 50% share of the stadium and land so, from this we can assume, it's a spat between the Crynes and the Conway/Lee consortium.
I do agree to a certain point but at the end of the day it's just a sport/pastime that we as fans choose to do. If people don't want to they make that choice
Maybe just support them and be guaranteed playing like them every week? Football in this country stems from the local community, it's about having the town buzzing. Would the town really care in the same way if we were located away from it?
What are Coventry's training arrangements? If we were to ground share with another EFL club then how and where would we train?
I would say this there is a helluva lot of personal abuse being thrown about on the basis of an unsubstantiated rumour
The thing is, i bought season tickets knowing that we wouldn't be attending may games. I also knew the primary point was to help the club as i did also by letting the club keep any money from last seasons ticket. This doesnt look like these owners have any commitment to our community, our ground and fans. Taking the games elsewhere clearly puts their own interests up front and completely ignores this town. I will watch, listen and learn to how things unfold but maybe i should get a refund now while i can.
