yes that’s why the ground ownership is set up as it is.

Not paid £2.5 million they agreed to pay to purchase the club missing several agreed dates to make said payment for supposed billionaires that's poor

What did they get away with?
I thought they left with a big loss?

I thought the whole point of selling it to themselves was to avoid losses. Otherwise why go into admin straight away?

If Chein Lee, Conway etc gain full ownership of our club, we are in the hands of businessmen who don't care two hoots about our future.
If they did care they would have paid the Cryne family what they we're owed and liased better with Barnsley Council going forward.
We are owned by a very smart consortium who are running a tight ship, which in the current circumstances is reassuring, but don't be fooled, they could sling their hooks at the drop of an hat.

I have generally been more pleased with the running of the club under these owners than I have been under the previous ownership. Yes, it has been disappointing they haven’t put more of their own money in, but that is understandable until the ground belongs to them. The appointment of Morais was a disaster and the handling of Stendel’s deperature was terrible PR.

however we are seeing better players being signed, longer term contracts, sales that make sense or are at a time that doesn’t hurt us too much, academy players coming through, a move away from James Cryne’s spreadsheet. The running of the club hasn’t been all smooth sailing but I haven’t seen anything yet that makes me question their ownership. Hopefully the sale of the ground can be resolved

I wonder if the owners are aware that there is a covenant on the curtilage of the ground (playing area), which requires it only to be used for recreational purposes. That means it cannot be built upon.

    I thought the point was:
Old owners have money tied up into club running at a loss.
New owners buy club (using a loan) - enables old owners to get their capital back.
Then new owners who now own the old debt and the debt to buy the club announce they can’t cover the debt and go into administration.
Administrators now have to manage existing debt and new debt used to buy club.

Percentage wise I’d say the signings over the past couple years are better than the ones

your view is genuinely that say Bambo is better than Roberts? That Wilks better than Watkins? I’d say the team that came up with Hecky was superior in every way to our current one until it got flogged off. From our current lot you’d only think that maybe Woodrow could compete for a place.

Any owner could sling their hook at the drop of a hat... What could make them do that is a long legal battle to own a stadium they thought was part of the contract they signed.

Why would anybody buy half of something then put all the money in to upgrade? If we want to move forwards as a club this needs resolving.

The owners have spoken about building better fan zones and other things to increase revenues to build the club up but none of that can happen if they can't own it 100% can they.

I have seen nothing to make me think they want to knock the ground down and build houses or sell off the land in fact all the talk is of improving what we have and building for the future.

It seems to me sometimes as Barnsley fans we look at the worst case scenario of everything instead of embracing change which is badly needed if we are going to keep ourselves competitive in the championship.

the Council have already confirmed that no approach has been made to purchase their half of the ground. I doubt whether there is some Machiavellian scheme to flog the ground off. I don’t doubt given that they have said they won’t invest their own money ( which I have no problem with) that if they did it buy it would be through a similar loan arranging that they employed at Nice. The club would ‘pay’ or would service the debt if we are to take the owners at their word.

They went into admin cos the owner said he wouldn’t provide any funds to run the club etc but he paid a big loan off when buying.

Except of course the current government are revising the planning laws and it would be very hard for BMBC to stand in the way of potential housing or commercial use that was not sporting related.

But they haven’t put their supposed wealth into any club they’ve been involved with, that’s the problem.

At OGC Nice they set their stall out for me, bought on loans, made a fortune off a publicly built stadium, facility’s and had a somewhat successful squad already at the club to plunder, then flogged it for a massive profit.
No wonder folk don’t trust them imho.

I'd say the stadium concourse look a lot better and the fan zone has improved the matchday experience and gave youngsters something to do when they arrive at Oakwell.

We seem to be moving away from the transfer policy we used at the start of last season and that is improving the squad as has the manager.

To be able to develop and improve the stadium you would think owning it outright was the next step?
