I remember us achieving the impossible and playing Carvalho, Ballack, Anelka, Joe Cole et al off the pitch.
Pretty decent run out. Good for fitness and to try a few players out. Like the Forest game best not to read a lot into the result.
Regardless of the squad Chelsea put out it cannot be more intimidating than the side that came to oakwell in 2008. That was some 11 they brought that day and we still stuffed them. Whatever happens it will be a great experience for the players, good luck to them.
One of the hardest games John Terry ever had. Odejayi destroyed him that day. The team that day got all they deserved. Totally outplayed em.
Anybody watching odejayi that day, and never seen him before, would have instantly bid millions. But then he didnt have long to show his real ability in the semi final.... doh
Did you have to bring this up again, still have nightmares over that miss. I still hold the view that if we had beaten Cardiff that day we would have beaten Pompey in the final
Memories eh? My recollection was that it was Stan who played the better of the two strikers and really knocked Terry and Carvalho about.
Was that the same side that stuffed us 0-6 at Oakwell in the Premier League (3 goals in each half)) I was spared seeing the 2nd half as my 10 year old started to feel very unwell just before half time and I had to walk her home. Got a few "where are you going...are you 'fair weather' fan?" comments as we were leaving the ground too. The only game I have ever left early although I have been tempted a few times over the years
Terry was sh*t scared all game. I was screaming at us to get the crosses in at every opportunity, then midway through the 2nd half, this thing of beauty came soaring through the sky from the touchline, just in front of the West Stand lower tier, towards the Ponty end penalty area from Devaney's right foot. Soaring, soaring onto Odejayi's head.... "It's happening again....." We shouldn't be scared of playing Premier league teams, we should embrace the challenge....
The club's official Twitter page has done a superb job again, after claiming Helik would head a brick away if it was thrown at him! Well done to Whitey and 'his' team.
