Don’t think that’s been inspired by the owners just some of the oakwell staff & The fanzone was all supporters trust led. We aren’t doing anything more than much smaller clubs than us, like Walsall or Tranmere are doing for an example.
They bought a club that had never been in the Champions League and got them there , the former owner then felt he’d let the club go cheaply and started to undermine them .They brought Viera in as manager , hardly plundering . The previous owner got his mate , a tax dodgeing world polluting ****** , but a billionaire to make an offer they couldn’t refuse .
I forgot the new hand dryers as well... There have been small improvements wether you see them or not is another thing... What would you like to see?
Some of the the things they said would improve which they haven’t. New revenue streams - nope. Opening the club up to overseas fans - nope. Getting some volunteers to run a fanzone outside the east stand. We will take the credit for that.
To be clear. It wasn't led by the Trust. It was led by Andy Clarke and Rob Zuk at the club who involved us. The initial meeting we had also included Paul Conway
Yep obtain as much of the assets as possible without putting your own cash in, then sell. nice work if you can get it.
Just a thought here.... if they are paying £750 k a year to use Oakwell, why wouldn’t they want to use their option to buy? Maybe the council or the Cryne family or both quite like the income each year and don’t want to give up the current deal? I can’t imagine I’d want to keep renting if I could buy...
Maybe because they had so much to deal with and catch up on, ie. Players, contracts and general day to day stuff, that it got pushed down the priority list. And that a gentlemans agreement that the 6 months option would he honoree whilst they got to grips with things. Possibly... at a guess
At the time they came in though we had a capable CEO and other staff to take care of the things on your list. Completing the financial side of things must be higher than those surely? Isn't that what lawyers are for?
Yeah, of course. Just offering a possible reason. Which maybe way off, of course. Suppose none of us understand why the 6 month option wasnt taken up, other than whatever this 3rd party claim is. May have started way back then I guess, and had only recently been made as a point in recent statements....
Million and one questions isn’t there. Why didn’t they buy is one, is it contractual issues, is it lack of funds, did they prove they had the funds when purchase was made, if so what happened, if not why not? Have to be honest, whilst I keep an open mind, previous does point towards lack of funds. We will probably never know the real reasons.
That sounds a reasonable fee to me. Surely a ground share at another club would be the same if not more?
According to all the statements from the Cryne family they have not changed their minds at all, they haven't been paid contractual payments for the purchase of the club which is the reason for the legal action. Nothing to do with the ground at all as far as I can see.
