It was a tough one between Williams and Helik. Gone for Helik as he was faultless all night, Williams looks a different player to the one 12 months ago though.
I agree with you about Williams but fans forget how young he is , there seems to be no patience , he is still learning his trade & I feel confident that he will continue to develop into a very good player , the stick he has taken for such a young lad has been a disgrace , thankfully he is winning people over .
Williams was great again, in two positions and neither where he has been playing recently. Good goal too. I’ve gone for Helik though, man mountain. Looks a great signing on first viewing.
I'm going Williams as I didn't last time when he was in my top 2. His name got plenty of mentions, he defended well and of source got the goal. Mowatt was up there for me too, again key passes and impressive defensively.
I've gone Schmidt. That goal did him the world of good and he looked bigger and better than ever before the rest of the game. Linked play really well, took some good shots. Very mature performance all round but, in particular, from Patrick Schmidt.
I agree. I really don't understand some of the criticism. I thought he had a poor start to last season, and was part of the reason that we were leaking so many goals. But since Struber came in, he's been on an upward trajectory. He looks more confident on the ball, and the way he glided past some of their players last night, it was a joy to watch. Some of his passing does occasionally leave a little to be desired, but I think it's something we're working on a lot in training, and I think he'll only get better. At the same time, a mate of mine reckons he's the worst left back we've ever had. Funny what some folk see.
It's funny you say that. With the game last night having the Boro commentary over it, it was interesting to hear the oppositions perspective of our players. As you say, Williams (and I'd add Helik and Anderson) in particular got a lot of mentions, usually in a positive light.
