I remember those ,They were guests journalists from various newspapers and magazines or various sports people from other clubs or sports usually reminiscing about their first match or significant sporting events or prowess etc . Used to really enjoy those .
Looks a really good read but a bit worried that 1 or 2 may go missing in the post as you can see clearly through the plastic envelope what it is
I’m not worried about that, it’s worth £3 - you’ve got more chance of something valuable nicking random parcels. It really shouldn’t be plastic packaging though in this day and age.
Barmy if we don't have control of our own matchday programme being sent out in something more environmentally friendly. I will still keep buying the programme but do feel uneasy adding to all the plastic rubbish as there is enough of it in the world. Maybe we should all send our used plastic back to the publishers so they get the idea.
He's not saying that. He's saying it's barmy that we can't insist they send it out in environmentally acceptable packaging such as paper envelopes.
It’s not barmy though. It’s sent by the publisher, it’s their responsibility to package and send. Whitey has said that they’ve raised the issue. That’s all they can do. If the contract or agreement doesn’t say that the club can dictate the packaging, they can’t. And why would the company who’s job it is to send them out allow their customer to dictate how they are sent out? That would be barmy.
I've delivered loads and plenty of Leeds programmes and would never keep ( gone missing) anyone else's programme or owt else!
Ordered the season subscription last Weds night, received first edition today, hoping thats not gonna be the normal lead time and was delayed due to setting up the subs. It arrived in a white paper jiffy bag, non see thru.
It's barmy to listen to customer feedback which might result in more sales? It's not dictating to want them to think about the planet more.
Just remembered it was called the Benny Hill column or page or whatever . Benny Hill was a local journalist and a Barnsley fan I think and he was respected country wide by journalists and readers alike and the column was in respect/tribute to him . Maybe @Turvey Tyke could shed some more light on it .
It was called Stop Press, and you're right, it was Benny Hill. The old press room behind the West Stand was named after him too. Before my time though.
That's good to know (packaging). As for delivery time, I think the current climate is the issue. Because we are sending them to print two days earlier than we usually would. So they're actually posted out four days before each game. I will relay the issues received in this thread once more with the publishers. And I hope folk go easy on us when we have back to back home games as that's going to take some turning around. It's why we've tried our best to make each issue more timeless, and less opposition focused. Of course, there's still info on the opponent, but nothing in there that will be out of date, due to having to print them/post them earlier. I can't wait for the return of fans. Our job has been so challenging the last few months, believe me.
Don’t know what the room was like after but I remember a piece in the Chronicle where they’d upgraded the press room in respect of Benny as there were apparently very limited resources fir the visiting journalists . Think it was done in time for the extra media interest the forthcoming Allen Clarke era .
