Unless he fails the medical or can't agree personal terms, Dykes move to QPR could well go through today. Lyndon Dykes: Livingston striker closes in on Queens Park Rangers move https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/53800531
If Struber doesn't want a target man as part of his squad we won't be in for one regardless of whether we are short of one or not. I saw nothing to suggest we would play any type of lumpball to think we would want to spend £2 million quid on one. The only times we went direct were when we were going for broke at Luton and forest and in those situations any big bloke up top will do the job.
Let's be honest, it is taking an eternity to get this announced by QPR, given that Dykes was left out of Livingston's line-up on Sunday v Rangers and even his own manager is expecting him to sign for QPR. I just wonder if he has taken the scenic trip to London and come back with his agent via Stoke and Barnsley, given that both were also rumoured to be interested. Maybe he is getting a full hand of three possible deals before choosing with his agent. It's all gone very quiet on our part, but it is odd that n announcement has yet been made of the signing. Still a chance? I don't think so, but you never know.
Waste of time getting involved in these tugs of love. The only person that benefits is the agent. Seem to remember we were a bit of foil for that Motherwell midfielder who went onto to fail his medical at Celtic. Given our wage structure we can't really win these battles. Not sure we should try either.
.......... ‘I saw nothing to suggest we would play any type of lumpball to think we would want to spend £2 million quid on one’. You have been watching a different Barnsley team to me then. Since end of lockdown how many times did you see the ball go long to Brown ??? And how many times did Brown actually manage to control the ball or put us in a forward position? As a percentage I’d guess at less than 2% of the time. In fact it would have been more productive to take a leaf out of the rugby rule books - and aim to kick the ball in to touch deep in the opponents half. In saying that - that’s not Browns position - he isn’t a striker / winger - his best position is as a wing back. We haven’t got a target man in the squad. We need at least one.
go on, a I’ll bite, why does bringing in some height and or a bit of muscle mean we would switch to playing ‘ hump ball’?
Just scored his 1st league goal for qpr took it very well tbh. If you want the caliber of striker you have to pay the money..
Which we cant do. Hence why we are in this position. Crazy to think we would have just been better keeping Moore unless we got a daft offer we couldn’t turn down otherwise it’s almost impossible to replace a player when we are only willing to spend peanuts.
He scored a penalty last week and he's scored a penalty tonight. He wouldn't have scored 2 goals for Barnsley as we wouldn't have got 2 penalties, lol
Not watching the game but according to flashscores Dykes scored a penalty 1st half and defender Barbet have scored the 2 goals for QPR, currently losing 3.2 at Coventry
Saw nothing against Coventry. If he played against our centre backs I can’t see him having a kick of the ball. Poor. We someone far more mobile and powerful than Dykes.
And he was at fault in letting McFadzean get the clean header for Coventry's winner. Impressed with Coventry, as you would expect with a Mark Robins team. Good movement off the ball; fast passing;playing on the front foot. We will have to be on our game next Saturday to get the points, but surely our defence can't play as badly as QPR tonight.
Moore has scored 4 goals in his last dozen Championship matches. Dykes has scored five in his last seven games, over three different competitions for three different teams. I would say he more than matches Moore and would have been a great addition to our scoring options, as we don't take enough chances.
