    No it's not.

It's from a government who has told us to basically get on with our lives over the last couple of months, despite royally fcking up Track and Trace, and changing their advice on an almost weekly basis depending on whichever of their members has broken their own guidelines.

They crammed us in bars and restaurants on Mon/Tues/Wed by having a scheme only available on those 3 days - which has left places dead on the other 4 days.

They've decided that by telling us to wear a mask, we only need to be one metre plus away from each other - whatever that means.

They made their Nando's Scale, then they've ignored it because they don't fancy following their own advice.

They told us not to travel abroad, but because Johnson's dad went to Greece they had to then u-turn on that and let us travel all over. Now they've realised they've dropped a bollock on that and are now changing which countries we need to quarantine from on a daily basis.

They then lob areas into local lockdowns via Twitter at about 90 minutes before it's official enforcement.

Folk won't follow guidelines when they don't make sense, only apply to the great unwashed and change on a daily basis.

Especially when the leader of the country is nowhere to be seen.

This isn't true mate. Across the country August was in Like for Like sales growth. Yes, the other four days were quieter than normal, but not quieter than they were in July.

Also, 'crammed' in isn't a true reflection when restaurants have reduced covers in some cases by 50% to comply with guidelines. They might have been full, but full within social distancing guidelines.

Obviously this in anecdotal, but the only time I've eaten out using the Scheme the place was full (and that's with social distancing measures in place). Bottlenecks at the toilets and entrances.

I've been out a few times on Thursday and Friday and it's an altogether more pleasant experience.

To be fair I could see why they did the help out to eat out scheme, trying to get the economy back on its feet and target the sectors most effected by covid, many pubs and restaurants still havent recovered from the 1st lockdown. Even though I never used the offer I could see the sence in it.

I get the eat out scheme.

But spread it over 7 days rather than 3. Maybe it 30% off over a longer period of time.

    Don't force people's hands.

And yes, a professor and a scientist should be there. But so should the fcking Prime Minister.

'deficiencies as people' ? That's actually unkind to my family and people in my circle of friends and probably the silent majority of who have stuck to the rules. Enforcement has been a joke on the rule breakers.

Not sure I agree he targeted those days as they are the quietest days for pub trade friday and Saturday were packed regardless. No ones hands were forced I never used the scheme.

I agree and maybe I should have toned down my earlier post.

Whitty and (Holly) Vallance representing the government in this presser.

Can I have a vote on me leaving the U.K. as I don’t want to live in a country that’s led and the rules dictated by a set of unelected bureaucrats that my hard earned tax money goes towards paying for.... :)

It doesn't take three people to tell us off like naughty children and to pump fear in to people about the worst case scenario armageddon heading our way. Boris will be talking to the nation tomorrow when he gives us another half a year of silly restrictions.

Yeah, I've no idea what it is about your position as an anti-immigration immigrant and covid shaming non-mask wearer that leads people to accuse you of hypocrisy. I'm stumped.

No problem, thanks, it was just a bit of a generalisation and it was a little close for comfort. :)

I don’t know about anyone else but it totally inspires my confidence in the CSO when he makes the opening statement that ‘the virus has changed genetically ‘a bit’’.

That’s sophisticated scientific analysis that as a layperson I just can’t hope to ever understand

To be fair the point of the briefing is to not use scientific language and to make it simple.

It did seem like today’s briefing was a precursor to Boris tomorrow announcing a lockdown or something similar.

I think it basically means they're shitting it because the virus has become more deadly and is starting to effect younger people as it was the over 60's.

Yet another repeated line on how the younger demographic will be mildly affected or unaffected. So again, why isn't more being done to protect the most vulnerable?

Also, if you're living in an infected area like the North West it's pretty chuffing simple - don't throw the family in the car and head to Blackpool. Just lay low for a couple of weeks and do the bare essentials.

I’m sure he could have explained it properly but it would have gone over 99% of the populations head so would have diluted his point, which was to debunk people like you who keep peddling myths that the virus has weakened genetically.

I still haven't heard a viable plan for how to do this. What would you suggest?

While still ensuring the most vulnerable get the care and supplies they need? If the virus is as rampant as you seem to want to make it, nobody from the 'outside world' can come in contact with the most vulnerable, surely?

This. People keep reiterating that we need to protect the vulnerable, please tell us how we do that whilst us young 'uns continue our normal life.
