I know it's Chelsea, I know they're a great team and we were up against it today, but it seems everyone in the world saw that our defence simply wasn't acceptable tonight.

 

We all knew we were gonna lose. At H/T, 2-0 flattered the hosts. But if you can't put the ball in the net, you're gonna get beat. I know it's an overreaction, but that 2nd half was an absolute joke.

Too many excusing that performance stating they had multi million pound players etc etc .
That was nothing to do with Chelsea having expensive players but everything to do with our casual and imo unprofessional ball retention/surrender .

 

Bit of both. We played some good football, but defensively we did fall apart. Goalscoring / finishing has been our issue this calendar year. This is first time we've had a drubbing under Struber. The quality of their finishing was sublime. Barkley missed a sitter though. I think 6-2 may have been a more representative score, as their keeper made 2 class saves from Woodrow & Schmidt.

 

Yeah must admit they’re finishing was excellent however their approach play didn’t create the opportunities .
I believed if one of our chances goes in before they score it’s a different game but having said that the number of times we just passed to them from our possession was breathtaking so score line could have still been high for them .
Three occasions Williams passed straight to the opposition player a yard in front of him was cringeworthy , he didn’t need to intercept he just gave it him as if the ball would go straight through him to his objective !
This is the thing about learning from our mistakes he does it time and again and not just him .
It needs addressing as a group imo because it happens too frequently and most players are at fault .

 

When the defenders are tripping over the ball and passing it to the opposition you're going to lose heavily to any standard of team. They are clearly far far better than that. The occasion must have got to them.
