If you read the narrative precis on the club website, the opening suggests journos were told Struber wouldnt answer any questions other than regarding the Coventry game. That pretty much says it all really.
His release clause is rumoured to be over £1 million and he constantly repeats that there's a really positive working relationship. There'll be no under the bus throwing and this is nothing like the Stendel situation. Interest has been shown in him before and he hasn't acted on any of it. This time it's New York Red Bulls and one step closer to the dream job. I don't believe it will be our recruitment that gets him to stay - I don't think anything would get him to stay.
And what have we got to show for it? Bugger all thanks to the board. We take a step backwards every summer. We're limited to treading water even when the managers and signings are decent. I fear what will happen if we get a couple of crap managers/bad crops of signings in a row.
Lol. But it's all my fault, I was the one who said we'd have a good season and finish 12th. I should know better than that. I should have said we'd finished in 24th place on 16 points, lol
Hasn't he said exactly that? 'He's our coach, we want him to stay, we have no intention of letting him leave however there is a clause' 'Gerhard is our manager', 'We want to take the next step with him', 'I can confirm there is a release clause and, if a club want to speak to him, they would have to meet that clause'.
I can't recall exactly, but didnt a few people suggest we'd paid a large amount of compensation to get him and his other coaches? I don't know if fees were mentioned, but probably the reason we have a sizeable clause to claw back that outgoing compensation on his exit if not sacked.
Yes, that's exactly what he said, but either some people can't read, or don't understand plain english, or throw a wobbler if the statement fails to match their own preferred statement word for word.
Like you I was borderline when it came to renewal this season. There comes a point when you have to say 'enough is enough'. A season with limited opportunities to see live football, the off field shenanigans between the 80% and the 20% and poor transfer activity and I suspect next year's choice will be a whole lot easier.
Not really. It's entirely at the discretion of the player/manager and the club. I think this one, as mentioned already, is based on us recouping what it cost us to get Gerhard initially (and probably more).
So the club are fully open and honest with the fans..... then get slated for it...... Yes it does add to rumours, but all the club have done, is confirm to the fans exactly the situation. Struber to New York? Possibly next year, as he struggles not seeing his family now, let alone over in the US. His ties with Red Bull go back some time, so I’m sure the options will remain open for some time, but not ideal with Covid-19 currently.
You can make most clubs records look poor if you add temp/caretaker managers into the equation though.....
Pretty much my take on it. Except I'm not arsed who comes in as under these owners and model it's irrelevant.
I agree Loko. I think Dane Murphy's communication in the past has been poor. He's not said anything too often and when he has said something I've often thought it hasn't been very good BUT I'm with you on this. Don't see what else he could say, he's stated we want him to stay but been honest that there is a release clause.
Out of curiosity, how long would the list be if you tallied how many players have played a first team game during their tenure?
