Fair play to him. That's a meaningful update of the kind we not had too often in the recent past. Refreshingly open on a number of topics too, even if some of it isn't the greatest news.
That did stick out a bit to me but at least this way nobody can say we didn’t try and keep him. Doubling his wages is fairly substantial I’d say but alas, he clearly didn’t want to be here.
We all know that Jacob is sound. They could have insisted he stick to his contract but I reckon they were more eager for the money.
That was a good read and once again, Dane comes across as a genuine person who updates on several topics. I always try to look at the club in a positive light and am probably a bit of a “happy clapper” but a few things have had me slightly worried over the last couple of weeks. This article has has covered a lot of that and more and I’m now more upbeat. Thank you Dane. Now all we need is to start scoring. A few goals tomorrow would do nicely.
If it's true Brown was offered double his wages to stop but still wanted to go, then your only gripe might be that too much information has been provided by Dane. We can't gripe about being told the truth, if that's what Dane is telling. And we like to be told as much as possible, even when we don't really warrant it. I don't think any less of Brown for insisting upon leaving - he might be getting 5 or 10 times more brass at Stoke. Anyway, the statement as a whole is quite positive and attempts to reassure. But words are not action.
Good to read that. For the life of me, I can't see why regular updates similar to the one today can't be made periodically. If nothing else, it would serve to dispel our collective fears at the direction the Club is being taken in and help to hopefully build some bridges with the Board ,who through their reluctance to keep us informed in the past, has led to a widespread feeling of distrust.
Well well well .....I wasn't expecting that.... First of all if Dane reads this board ...I'd like to say thank you to him ..for such a Frank and open informative piece ...and no doubt honest too its much appreciated ....however my question to Dane is Why can't information such as this be shared more often ...instead or the silence we normally receive Why wait until theres an out cry and speculation and rumours running amock This board of ours creates in my opinion all the animosity and hatred that is directed towards them themselves..... The sooner they start learning about Barnsley /fans and its folk the better Once they the yanks realise they only have to tell it how it is and in Conways case ...stop pedaling recycled sound bites and clouding situations with half truths ...... The sooner he and the board will build the bridges and correct the divide between fans that exsist now of which he created .... A good place to start for Conway apologise for his car crash 21 worded statement re DS..... Tell us the truth even though we might not like what we hear ... but ..... please tell us exactly how it is and you just might realise how much us barnsley folk will respect you for it and if need be we will always jump in alongside of you in the trenches when it needs tin hats and a fighting spirit to see things through But stop treating taking us for fools and acting like we are mushrooms by keeping us in the dark..... Yes a much needed up date so thank you once again Dane......keep up the good work
Or was Jacob more eager for the money? Doubling his wages at Barnsley could have meant going from eg.£4k a week to £8k a week, whereas going to Stoke might get him £15k a week or more? Not having a go at the lad,he seems sound as you say. But maybe it's not always about just the club wanting the money
Refreshing statement. I think the threads of discontent will vanish with a couple of wins and decent run of results. Naturally people scrutinise more when the team lose. Myself included.
I'm sure he was, the point still stands that he was under contract and the board could have refused to release him.
Good communication & I admire him picking his time to make a meaningful statement, a few games in & a few hot potatoes re potential comings & goings on everyone's tongues. It seems also that the Freezer is not really Brown's replacement. Dominic, Frieser & coke. (Diet coke).
Excellent. Only just seen this. You know the feeling when you think your woman as found another bloke but she tells you not to worry, she loves you. That's what this statement feels like. Well done dane. Brilliant read! Off to get some cans now
There have been 12 updates / interviews on our website with Dane Murphy in 2020. As I've stated myself on here a handful of times now, we pledged at the start of the year to communicate more / better as a club. I even came back onto this forum myself at the start of March to try and help in that regard where possible. So I again have to disagree with those suggesting he's not active or vocal enough. Other than August where this year's 'off-season' was, we've had Dane on the website, the programme, iFollow, YouTube, with the Supporters Trust, talking to local and national press, every month (at least once) but again, only when it's apposite to do so. We won't roll him out every week for the sake of it. I have also held up my own hands previously as part of the comms team for the period of silence last Autumn. As did Dane himself. It wasn't right, regardless of the reasons. I'm really glad that we've moved forward in this direction and appreciate it goes down well. Here's to a good result tomorrow and no matter what happens, always know folk are trying their best for the cause. You Reds etc.
Brown did want out from what I heard so he is telling the truth there. And fair play for the statement.
