Surely the question for the EFL is why do they have to hold payment details for everyone. If there is zero to pay (after the voucher is applied) then there is no need to hold personal credit details of an individual .... Seems like a scam from the outset.
It’s because the vouchers are technically just single use discount codes with a discount of £10. So technically they are charging £0.00 to the card. It’s stupid but it’s due to trying to make a system do what it wasn’t designed to...
It’s a simple piece of code to write as an if statement .... I.e If value of purchase = zero then card validation not required. Personally they have one primary task to stream video and they don’t do that effectively .... And yet they are asking everyone to trust they have the necessary security and encryption in place to handle and store sensitive consumer data. I’d love to see them explain a data breach in the future and reason why they stored sensitive data that was not required.
The inputting of codes should soon be obsolete. We think we've forced that breakthrough. Official comms on that when we know for sure.
