I don't know the European leagues, so cannot comment on them, but i had a trawl through. If it looks as though all we can manage in the present circumstances would be a loanee from a Premiership club, I came up with these, but their contracted club would need to stump up a good portion of their wages, no doubt: Kenneth Zohore from West Brom. Big target man striker. Cannot afford wages, but on loan??? Grot - Leeds. Love the name. Another big target man striker on loan Poveda - Leeds. Same as Grot. Still young and inexperienced, though. I can't do much better than that for the style of player we need. The attempts at permanents seem to be abortive, so we might have to resort to the loan marker instead, as we did with Ludewig. May be a question of needs must.
Poveda is blisteringly quick but not a target man type that we need. He is only 5'4 ish but a good player nevertheless Zohore is on circa 25k a week apparently but is surplus to requirements there, Owls are/were linked to him and were stumbling with wage payments according to Nixon on twitter, so if true we would have no chance as we know they are not bothered about paying big wages usually.
Oops! I notice that Marcus Forss was an unused sub for Brentford at Millwall on Saturday and he was my best tout in the close season, which was before he had broken through into the Bees' first team. Still would be worth an enquiry.
My outside shout would be Nicholas Gioacchini, he is a young American that plays for Caen in French Ligue 2. Seen a few clips and reports about him and he is very good at holding the ball up and good range of passing for a striker so could help with some of the issues we have had creating chances of late. Still only 20 and scored a few in Ligue 2 since breaking into the team there.
I saw Poveda when he played for Man City U23's against us in the checkatrade trophy the other year, scored a couple and looked brilliant, very direct player, would be a great signing but not to fill the target man role.
