Genuine question - our setup, business plan and model is very similar to how Red Bull operate most of their sports entities.

RB don’t have a foothold in the English game - would anyone be adverse to them coming in and buying us?

I’d be up for it, as it follows the principles of being sensible with money and promoting youth. But it’d give us great links and a bigger clout in the transfer market. As well as put us on the map more.

I’ve always seen this option as the end-game for our current owners - essentially doing all the hard work for someone like RB coming in and taking it from there.

Weren't we considered a number of years ago? Also Leeds mentioned if my memory serves me correctly. I'm sure there were issues regarding the actual ownership. I might be wrong though

Not overly keen, but at least it wouldn’t entail a colour change.

Couldn’t get comfortable with a Club name change but could accept a stadium name change

I guess the only ‘official’ name change would be the RB bit before our name.

I remember the Leeds link, but always thought that Leeds were way too big for the RB brand. They tend to go for the smaller club so they can build it better.

One thing is for sure the profile of Barnsley F.C will only go up regardless of the ownership. These owners sold Nice to Radcliffe the richest man in England. I'm tipping if they sold us it would be to someone of similar ilk.

I’ve mentioned it before. It’s the only way forwards IMO either that or we go-yo between champ and L1 at best.

it is strange how RB dont have teams in Italy, France, Spain or the UK so perhaps there are regulations that would make it difficult.

If it moves us forwards I could live with RB Barnsley I guess

It's the modern way now I suppose to keep changing owners, so yeah I guess I'd be OK with it.

I don't think it would happen though

It still wouldn't guarantee success. Especially with the amount of money in the English leagues already.

I’d thought about this myself and it would be a logical next step for RB and Barnsley if they thought about it. 2 million for a head coach and how much for the club?

Was reading recently about their takeover of Liepzig. How they changed the name, changed the colours of the kit, changed the whole identity of the club and introduced overpriced yearly subscriptions for people to sit on the board (pricing out fans so they cant have a vote/say on the running of the club, which is the exception to the rest of German clubs, who focus on community-led football teams). There would be no more fan engagement (ala Dane) and I fear we would feel more distant than ever as a fanbase. They may get success on the pitch, but they are the most hated club in Germany, and I would be uncomfortable with them taking over on Grove Street.

FA rules mean you can't advertise in a team name above step six of the non-league pyramid. So there won't be any teams in the EFL or Premier League called Red Bull even if they are owned by them.

The same ruling applies in Germany, so the crafty feckers officially changed their name to RasenBallsport Leipzig (meaning 'Lawn Ball Sports Leipzig'), but the initials imply 'Red Bull'. The hatred is so strong for them at away matches the home team have staged mock funerals (to represent the 'death of German football'), 15 minute silences before games, and thrown a bulls head at their fans.

    Rasenballsport Barnsley......no thanks.

Great for the new glory hunting fans they may pick up but not good for the current fans who they would alienate and treat as an inconvenience.

I think the investors will be crossing there fingers that the investment group recently set up Redball acquisition corp with Billy Beane as Co-chairman will be interested in buying the club
i believe they have already bought a club in France and are on the look out for clubs in various other country's to buy.
Maybe would be a little bit sketchy with Beane being the co chairman as it would be in his interest to have a high purchase price which would mean a bigger investment return for him.
but i am sure he will be steering the group towards having a look at us for certain as being a good buy for the group.
There's no truth whatsoever that chien is texting him 100 times a day on this matter.
