That will go well in the busiest shipping channel in the world. At least they don’t have a 9 hour flight to the Ascension Islands if they manage to get through the barrier: it’s like a version of Total Wipeout
I can confirm that this and other stories are a smokescreen and deflection technique. Keep your eyes on Covid and Brexit negotiations. This story also is being used to beat civil servants with for supposed leaking. You know the Tories are hiding something when they talk about migrants and civil servants.
Absolutely. Another dead cat. But also music to the ears of the racists across the country. I'm assuming our resident far-righters will be joining the thread at some stage.
Something needs to be done though. The current situation puts the lives of the refugees and the Coastguard/Borderforce at risk. There’s no ideal way to resolve this at all. But the less who try to travel in the first place, means more lives will be saved. The criminal gangs in Europe organising this are making thousands each week from it. A big deterrent will make some, but not all, think again about it.
I'm sure they've floated these ideas (no pun intended) but this is classic Dom and his Tufton Street mates in action. Some of the ideas we hear are from the realms of Partridge; Monkey tennis anyone?!
Making the criminal gangs less likely to succeed isn't going to stop them selling the dream at great cost. It'll just kill more desperate people. How about we build a few more houses and let people in? Enterprising characters. Bootstraps, etc. I'd rather have them than the racists.
This isn't going to stop people attempting the journey. It's just going to ensure more die along the way.
“Inner-City Sumo: we take fat people from the inner-city, put them in big nappies and then get them to throw each other out of a circle that we draw with chalk on the ground. Very cheap to make, we could do it in a pub car park. If you [the BBC] don’t do it, Sky will.”
This year's crossings have been no different to any other year. Its extremely dangerous yes but the media have turned it into migrant porn as per usual (doing their master's bidding). They wont be crossing again for a few months, what's better than barriers? Answer 15ft swells.
Dn't laugh. gates like this (usually more ornate and elaborate (often electric powered automatic ones) are all over the place here. Some indeed are open either side and others have a wall across the front but are open to the surrounding land on the other three sides. Our accountants house is like the latter. Very fancy electric gates with wall either side running along the frontage of his property with fancy railings. The other three sides are simply marked with a very low 18 inches hedge or nothing at all. They are regarded as more of a status symbol in some cases. The fancier the gates the more important they feel. 'La bella figura' and all that. I made and fitted some 5 bar gates at the entrance to our drive so they all know we are English round here.
