TBF I do like this view that because you are in favour of something that doesn't mean you are responsible or should feel guilty for the consequences of that thing. You wanted a lockdown but because that meant a reduction in NHS services that's nothing to do with you because those in charge of actioning it have enabled consequences you don't like.

I wonder how many will apply that to other current matters ?

Not sure what point you are making. Sweden has actually higher overall infection numbers than UK if you multiply the figure available by a factor of 6 (given Sweden has a 6th UK population)

Higher number of deaths in UK but population demographics, density etc and many other factors make it difficult to form a definitive answer as to why.

Italy adopted and strictly enforced lockdown and other measures such as masks . Thus far after the initial spike a second spike has been avoided although yesterday did see a sudden jump in numbers but far lower than most other European countries. Death rates have remained low after the early days but the high numbers are in the main attributable to a well known demographic that Italy has a relatively elderly population.

REDUCTION IN NHS SERVICES IS NOTHING TO DO WITH LOCKDOWN THEY ARE COMPLETELY SEPARATE POLICIES.

Apparently I had to say it louder for the hard of hearing.

Reduction in dental services is more to do with PPE requirements than lockdown.

    It's a crying shame that.

I bet the death toll from missed check ups was astronomical.

Like most primary care services they can pick up serious issues before they become so, and so save the NHS money in the long run and improve patient outcomes.

There are around 700 people diagnosed with mouth cancer per month in the UK - and the recovery rate is around 60%.

Obviously any death is a tragedy, but to resort to moaning about the lack of opportunities regarding mouth and oral cancer diagnosis is a bit weird. Especially when there is a highly contagious and deadly respiratory virus knocking about.

As I said in another post... Sweden whilst having a lower total Covid death rate than UK -mostly for the reasons you explained - actually has a higher total infection number than UK if you multiply the actual figure by 6 (given their comparative population size with the UK).

All these Covid threads including this one have done is to prove the Government (any government) CANNOT WIN.
People arguing lockdowns and other measures taken such as mandatory masks are politically agenda driven and some sinister plot to control and subdue the population and some even claiming they are targeting certain minority groups and the poorer in society, Some are claiming they don't have the intended affect i.e. controlling the spread of the virus

Others are arguing, to the contrary, that the lockdowns and controls have been inadequately enforced and did not go far enough

It is a pity all the 'experts' on here are not in charge. I am sure the World would be free of Corona virus by now if all the Governments of the World had followed the sage advice offered on here:rolleyes:

Some of the fools on here are even suggesting that the way to stop spreading it is to simply not breathe :p
