He didn't sabotage anything he proved to the board what he and the previous 2 managers have told them is correct, the way they run the transfer policy won't give them their stated ambition of championship stability first then maybe push on. But they haven't listened and now he's off too.
I find it mind boggling that some fans think Struber is the problem. Our end product is woeful. Yes we may have another bounce if we get a new manager in. But unless we get better players in, we'll be back in league one next year.
I’d give him credit for these comments if the board hadn’t supported him with Sollbauer, Ludewig, Ritz and Frieser. Brown was always going to be a loss, but he talked in the ‘Summer’ about it being just as important that we kept our best players. Only losing Brown is probably a good result on that front. The way we’re playing, the tactics we’re deploying, do two quality signings make that much difference? They definitely make some difference, but a new striker up front today makes zero for me. Or against Coventry. I’m not for one second saying our owners and our recruitment is amazing, or even good, but given the current climate I think it’s a bit rich lashing out like this and effectively shifting the blame. Saying we need quality and constantly playing Ritz is such a contradiction.
Can’t give respect for setting a team up to fail if that’s what’s happened . It has an effect on the long term confidence of players and they could be crucial unnecessary point/s dropped in a later relegation battle . And I would be mad as fook if a manager had set his team up to fail and would expect him to resign .
Fair play to him for saying in public what is so obvious to the majority of the fanbase. As a parting shot, it's exactly what needs to be said. Hecky and Stendel both clearly felt the same frustrations, and arguably Struber has been the one who's had the most support from the owners in terms of recruitment and loss of key players. I'm glad that someone has finally said it so openly, albeit from the comfort of having another job to go to, and free of the consequences of fearing the sack. It 'should' be the best contribution he made to the club during his time here, but that would involve something changing as a result, which I have zero faith will be the case. I guess we'll have to make do with an unlikely survival from relegation, but one that already looks like the dim and distant past.
I found the team selection and substitutes mind boggling . We had more quality in the team than the one that was picked today so if he did that to make a point I would say the point was lost when he left better quality on the bench imo .
I would agree that the subs were weird. And a bit desperate. I thought the initial team selection was ok. Ludewig looked knackered recently and Woodrow needs some with workrate up front (Frieser). We were crap today, but I think any manager would struggle with this squad.
Wouldn't he be better off catching one decent flight with a quality airline rather than four budget ones?
His interview is the difference between a thank you for your contribution and best of luck in your next job and a 21 word, two fingered, up yours and sod off. "Who did he think he was anyway?" I said some days ago that I thought he was talking his way out of his job. I now believe that. Pity the poor sod who replaces him, filled with promises and platitudes, then who sees his own future in the game going down the toilet faster than the turd I did this morning. Or they could appoint a yes man who does as he is told.
With all due respect Gerhard, it's difficult to think of two players less suited to Championship football than Ritzmaier and Frieser. And despite them being your signings, you could see that too as you hauled them off the field today. I don't like our owners, but please don't shift all the blame their way, you must shoulder some yourself.
B it sure is and its just the truth, which we have heard again and again from previous managers. Been same for donkeys years before these owners. Difference is these supposedly have money if they were interested in making an impression on English football
If a manager looks at our track record and signs then starts bairning about the policy I’d say he deserves everything he gets . No sympathy from me they take the shilling they take the sh it.
