is because we are not able to go to games.
There was always a time after a game we lost to let off steam, fume, sulk, kick the wife etc, but now it all seems so impersonal. We're not watching Barnsley any more, we're watching a game between two teams that could be anybody.
Reading the posts on here tonight does not make me angry about how we played. I'm sitting here typing this with a couldn't care one way or another attitude. That is sad.
I've watched this lot since 1968, I'm more alienated from them right now than I have ever been.

It’s ok though because 3,000 people can go to the Royal Albert Hall but zero people can go to an open air football game.

You’re spot on though. It’s like we’ve just picked a franchise to support and that’s who were cheering on.

I was apathetic about this ownership well before lockdown.

    Not sure I agree.

I live a way away from Barnsley and work every weekend, so I can generally only make it to a couple of away games per season and maybe a home one or two if I'm lucky. But I used to listen to every single game, and snap up live video whenever it was available.

The last two games are the first time I've missed an opportunity to watch us through sheer apathy in maybe a decade. Point is, I've always had to follow Barnsley from afar, with a live match as a very special treat, and I've just about had enough.

I think that plays a big part.

I also think it's the fact that we had a roaring end to last season, proving we could compete in this division, had learnt from previous mistakes and the hope that the owners had finally, finally acknowledged what was needed for this season and were going to do something about it.

That hope appears to have been grossly misplaced. Yet another season of being the whipping boys in this division is going to be very hard to take.
