Exactly that. If a business is viable than incomings should cover outgoings, which means the owners don't have to spend a penny.

Any "owners" who can't between them sort out out a problem over the patch that they own without going to court, are problem owners.

On the pitch, where is there any kind of encouragement to your reasonable supporter (me) that all is well? Or that things will get better?

I'm going to buy a season ticket regardless. Others won't. I get to moan about a shambolic scenario at present down the Well.

    We're nearly outdoing Boris.

I didn’t ask about any of that though. I asked where the evidence and facts were about them asset stripping.

Nobody is going to be daft enough to argue that the boardroom turmoil isn’t worrying or that things on the pitch are going well.

    OK, thanks.

Appreciate this may not have been your point but Dane Murphy's interview on 25/09 suggested that we were prepared to spend. For example re Kulenovic: “That one fell through and so we’ve continued to look at our other options, and believe me, we know that’s the area we need to strengthen. We need to score goals and so we’ll be adding in that department definitely.” On financial impact of Covid-19: “Right now, as a football club we are lucky that we aren’t impacted as badly as some. Our fans were magnificent in supporting the club in terms of buying season tickets despite the unknown that is the Coronavirus Pandemic. I can’t state that enough, just how important a factor that was. And so that together with the support of our ownership group and how we run the club, we are in a position where we can afford to strengthen our squad and will be bringing new players to the club. We have several options that we are well down the road with and it’s just about finalising them and getting them across the line now. I’m very confident that we’ll get our business done before the end of the window."
And on selling Jacob Brown: “It was felt that with the money we’d get for Jacob we could reinvest that into the squad and that’s exactly what we are in the process of doing right now."

Given all of that I don't think it's unreasonable for the manager or the fans to be frustrated that it's not yet happened. If we don't invest and strengthen the team with either permanent or loan transfers before the window closes it'll represent a failure and make this season a real struggle imo. The fact that through Dane the owners have been so bullish will escalate frustrations from many fans. And it'd be such a shame given the positivity following the end of last season.

Probably because we’ve massively trimmed the squad and sold Brown though? I don’t think it was a sign we were going to go and splash the cash.

Agree with your other comments. The loss of momentum is demoralising.

I wouldn't bother taking issue with those thinking that these owners are asset stripping in terms of the physical assets.

That's never been in their minds. Barnsley is of no imterest to them, other than how they can make money out of trading players.

And if they get lucky, making it to the promised land. That's not ever going to happen.

We know by now that they have not the slightest clue about football, our community, our identity, our dreams or our measure of content.

We're a small part of a portfolio to be massaged. Every now and then according to how much interest or spare cash there is.

They only make money if they take money out. There’s no evidence of that yet.

They aren't capable of making money out of us, because they won't invest in the players at the top of their list.

And when you're talking about owning a football club, breaking even is not a virtue.

I'm not trying to crucify them, but if you only want to balance the books - can I have a go?

I don't need to have owt in the bank and I reckon I could do as good a job.

What criteria do they have that I can't, if it's all about not losing money?

Nudge'd get me a striker from somewhere......

If you’ve got the £16m (or whatever it was) then I’d love you to have a go.

There’s no expectation, from me anyway, that they should invest their own money. I don’t want to be caught up in the death of football which is clubs’ running way beyond their means or in substantial debt. You’re fine quoting Brentford. It they’ve got players on £30k a week, in debt to their owner to the tune of £100 million, and it could all blow up at any minute.
