A lot back Struber’s words against the owners. Others see it as an attack on the club. I’m no fan of the board but I’m not in support of his rant today either. Whilst it contains a lot of truth, I think he’s made his position completely untenable and I think that it was orchestrated to make it impossible to stay, so that he might be sacked or bought out of his contract cheaper than the quoted €2million. I wouldn’t be surprised if his agent got him to say such things. We all as fans want some signings but we all as fans know we already have better players in the squad than Ritzmaier and Frieser as well, and that Callum Styles isn’t a fullback / wingback. He has to go, he’s made sure of that. Whilst his words were attacking an ownership group I’m no fan of, I think his actions and attitude were to the detriment of the club and as such, good riddance. I only hope the club will still get a few quid for him.
Everyone seems to be on one side or the other. Personally I think it's equal blame. The board IMO do lack ambition, but simultaneously Struber hasn't covered himself in glory. I just worry about our football club. I don't like to see us four games in with one point. Let's hope whoever comes in next can give us some optimism.
I think 2 million for his buyout clause is a good deal. However 'every pound put back into the squad' is also a load of b@locks too. The owners are there to make money not build up the team. Dane/Conway can talk the talk but the owners don't walk the walk.
I had seen a figure of 1Mill for Ritz but am not sure abart that. The cost of those 2 could be got back with the Struber money although I think al give Freiser a bit more time to show his worth.
£500k gets mentioned a lot on various different sites. Not sure how true that is. How much for Sollbauer? Don’t recall seeing that either.
1 million!!!??? Sweet jesus, im worth 500k then and my knees are shagged and 750k fo freezer, holy mother of god. £1.75 m to spend on a striker right there. Whos in charge of recruitment ffs, or they still on furlough.
Freiser hasn't been here long enough to get his boots dirty, Ritz was part of the great escape, Both players should be cut some slack and be allowed to settle into a new club and country before all the knee jerk reactions.
I know you're not his biggest fan I just think players need time to settle, Chelsea fans are probably saying that Werner's ****
Time to settle is fine but the manager shouldn't be so pigheaded that he's prepared to weaken our side in order for him to do that. He should be loaned out or utilised a as a bit part player off the bench while he settles, not handed the keys to oakwe.. grove street and made our most regular starter.
To be fair, it's impossible to judge the value of any of our players at the moment, because they're being shoehorned into a formation and style of play that doesn't really involve playing any football. It's designed purely to stop us conceding.
I think Struber thinks that Ritz is ready made for his system, I agree with you though that new players especially foreign ones should be bedded in from the bench and allowed to settle into a new environment. Ritz will probably get plenty of time on the bench when a new manager comes in.
Struber is right when he says that the club’s ambition doesn’t stretch beyond a relegation fight at the moment. Plus whoever is in charge of recruitment (Murphy?) has a problem with getting players with experience of the English leagues, to the extent that we look like we need a director of football. The problem Struber has at the moment is that 1 point and 1 goal in 4 games isn’t even fighting relegation form, it’s a surrender, he’s not getting anything like the best out of his players. To make things worse, he has been backed. We need a left back, defensive mid and a target man. First players I would let go to fund it if needed are Helik, Ritz and Frieser. Upshot is, the playing budget is low, but between Struber and the recruitment team, we’ve not used that budget very well, and if that is the issue that needs to be addressed. Both Struber and Murphy at fault imo.
I've epitomised the mixture of opinion and it looks like I have contradicted myself. However, I think it's possible to respect someone having the balls to stand up to the ownership whilst still agreeing with Jay that he did it in a self-serving way that reflected the selection and tactics of the match.
