How could our riff raff board delay it? If they NYRB meet the clause our club cannot do a thing. I would say NYRB are stalling to get him cheaper than the release clause, by getting Struber to speak out like today to help the deal along.
Maybe Ritz and Frieser weren't his first choices maybe he wanted better players but the board wouldn't stump up the necessary cash for those players so Struber had to make do with them because he needed bodies in. I've said for ages the way the board implement the plan is the problem they've tinkered with what was working recruitment wise when what was needed was a change in the retention part of the plan we needed to be stronger with players agents and other teams to either hold on to players or get more value when the go. The last three coaches have all said exactly the same thing the way the board are running the club is failing to deliver a squad good enough to meet their stated aims but they choose to ignore the coaches and plough on.
That’s pure speculation. Maybe he wanted Messi and Ronaldo and had to scour the market for more realistic targets and got Frieser? Signing players within our budget isn’t a negative of the board. But Struber got his own targets, outside of the spreadsheet, which no other Head Coach has had to that level. For him to criticise the lack of quality and have the same players as last season, of which some are his own signings, is insulting and laughable. Nobody is saying our owners are perfect, but on this particular issue I find Struber’s attitude offensive
Cryne put his own money in and never went missing when results were ****. I'd have him back tomorrow.
If Ritzmaier is a player he's just settling for I'd hate to see how he treats his first choice. Probably suck him off in the centre circle before each game.
He's said exactly the same thing Hecky and Stendel said the board lack ambition. They are trying to run the club like a corner shop their focus is on selling assets not on field success
That's right I might aswel own the club with a fiver in bank if club has to got to be self sufficient, ill put nothing in but if we make a bit ill bank it
They didn’t lack ambition when they agreed to break the model to sign the players he wanted though? It’s not like he inherited a full XI of terrible players to start with. At this stage we’re all just repeating ourselves but you can’t bemoan the lack of quality when your own signings are arguably the worst in the Starting XI.
And so it will continue with them in charge. Will any money from Brown/ Struber be reinvested in the squad...not a chance I think.
We’ve signed two first team players and sold one. I’ve no doubt we’ll see another signing at least, probably two. So it isn’t like they’re not investing - especially considering the current environment.
I think it’s the managers that don’t listen. If every Barnsley fan I know, knows what’s going on, and the owners make their policy clear (which they do), why are these managers surprised?
Bang on. And why loads of posters on here can’t see that, and still comment on lack of ambition etc is beyond me.
For me, I'd rather he was honest and said what he thinks. I hate all the bland stuff. One worry is that we have a board that seem unable to maintain a good working relationships with the people they pick as manager for any length of time.
I’m not disputing that. But were they his first choice, or simply those that were willing to move for the money on offer?
True. Didn't look at it that way. I'd be scared to think what he'd do to players who were his first choice then!.
I reckon it's just a coincidence that when he came we signed a player from the club he'd just left and that player now spends more time on the pitch than the groundsman does. The recruitment team identified him not Struber
