I think he knows he's off, he knows he has currency to spend considering the drama of last season & his media appearances & he's spending it by telling them/us they're f.cked. It's very similar to Heckingbottom but I'll give GS a bit of credit considering language barrier etc. I'd also argue that there's still a big chance these Austrian lads weren't his signings, too. Maybe some but I very much doubt all of them were when you consider who we'd signed from that 'market' before he even arrived.
I think they will have been because Soli and Ritz were older than we usually allow and we did a loan deal for Ludi.
Should never message when hungover and not wearing my glasses. A lesson I should have learned by now.
I think those two were conditions of him signing definitely. And you can't argue Solbauer helped. Maybe Friezer is one of his too. All 3 have been in the country less than 9 months through a global pandemic. Probably not the easiest place to settle so patience definitely required on them.
His comments are definitely unprofessional and in contrast with his usual interviews. Previously he has reiterated his trust in his boys, but now they're only good enough for another relegation scrap. Last season they were good enough to be mid table from the point he took over so I'm not sure what's changed. Maybe Jacob Brown was a massive factor in that success. He's clearly not happy with the club's attitude to this transfer window and must be going. He can't stay having now been so candid about his playing squad.
He's made unprofessional comments for a while now. At the back end of last season he was touting himself out and saying that he wasn't commited to barnsley. For weeks this season he's been actively slagging off our players. And I've just realised that the club's admission that they were in contact with him all throughout Stendels time here fits perfectly with his unprofessional admission that his agent has been talking to other clubs for months. It's in his DNA
Was Jacob Brown the only reason we stopped up last season as he is the only difference in the squad? Adding Helic and Frieser should improve us not weaken. We stayed up with basically the same players and won enough points equivalent to playoff form. Why are they not good enough again? Struber is the reason.
Is he or was a big factor many of the sides were dreadful post lockdown? QPR, Millwall & Blackburn were all mid-table teams with nothing to play for & looked way off the pace. Forest were atrocious after lockdown. Brentford choked. We were excellent against Leeds. Interestingly we couldn’t beat the three sides that had the same motivation as us - Wigan, Luton & Stoke. Jacob Brown was essential to the way we played. I’d argue our second most important player behind Mowatt & Struber regularly praised him. The only forward we’ve got who can win headers, battle with defenders, out sprint defenders & make runs in behind. I think there was a lot of naivety from people on here & twitter who seemed to think that just because he didn’t score many we wouldn’t miss him.
Gotta be really morale boosting for the team though ain’t it, hearing the coach tell everyone they are not good enough.
Why? Brown was loving playing every week & was a striker at Guiseley & in the academy for us. He did great for us there
Totally agree, thought the guy from Fulham was out of order last week and Struber last night, both for same thing. If I was Woodrow, Schmidt etc hearing my coach say I wasn’t good enough, I’d be banging on the door demanding to leave.
He was playing wide and getting regular assists, he was having his name sang every week and his stock had never been higher. Then he was moved central, got sod all in the way of goals or assists and had people questioning whether he should even be in the starting 11. At that point he demanded a move. Could he a coincidence of course
You don’t half like dress things up to suit your argument. Brown demand a move? Really? Or did Stoke meet our asking price and we were duty bound to inform Jacob and he jumped at the chance to earn a contract worth three four or more times what we could offer?
Option one. Option two doesn't even make any logical sense. We were duty bound to inform him because we decided to accept a bid? So we weren't duty bound to then because we weren't duty bound to accept the bid. The club wanted brown to stay we weren't duty bound to send him off for talks.
You’re right about patience, but I’ll share my immediate thoughts when Friezer missed that sitter on his debut...... “Oh, **** no bottle!” Time may tell.
Whatever, whichever, I don’t believe for a millisecond that Brown went in demanding a move. I do believe the option to stay of go was left to Jacob because as I recall Struber did his best to persuade him to stay, which means the club weren’t hell bound on selling him. What we will never know is what was in his contract and whether we were obliged to tell him of Stokes interest.
