    They probably are.

But they aren't more than McGeehan, Dougall, Thiam, Pinillos, Sibbick, Radlinger etc.

We're miles up on wages this year from our 'dealings'

Cavaré will have been on a fair whack before we got rid in January too. If they want us to believe they’re reinvesting every penny they better start being more transparent with the fans.

Good post Granty , I would look at the loan market although that can be costly , I was reading where the owls are trying to sign a striker from W.B.A on loan & they are demanding his wage of 25 k a week will have to be paid , which is a cool million for 1 year , there are no cheap options but a couple of arrivals & possibly better use of the players we have might turn things , we will see .

I left him out deliberately as he left in January, but you are correct.

Do we not also have to factor in the moore (installment) and wilkes money...as incomings.

Oooh we also have to include the £6 million championship money, that we constantly get told we would have lost if relegated

They haven’t even paid for the club yet. Think that tells us all we need to know.

Transparent. how transparent do you want em to be.? They say they are reinvesting the money into the team. ( not purchases per say) Do you want em to reveal wages. Do you want to know costs. Overheads. Tax. Police costs. Non playing staff wages. What club does that. And if you’re that intrigued. Read the accounts at the end of the year.

Where do you get your information from. I’m intrigued to know. Brown signed a new contract in 2018. 20 yrs of age. Not a first team guarantee at that time. Without knowing. Eg. £3k pw. Offered double. £6k pw. Went to stoke on £12k pw.
Then you think anyone coming to the championship be it from abroad will accept less than £3k pw.
    Who are your sources.
Shopping in Austria were the ideas of Struber btw.

I don’t think he has mate. Those folk like you and me know exactly what he meant. It’s those with an agenda that want to read it how it suits em , or want it in written in a language that they need to know every single detail.

Brentford has had an extra £90 million pumped into the team by it's owner, If you look at all the teams regularly in this league, The owners are paying in additional funds for wages. Unfortunately, we need to be paying the stars upwards of 16k pw. Something our 2 bob billionaires will not do(or so it seems).

    Quote Brentford.
Brentford owner Matthew Benham - He made his fortune from statistical evaluation and gambling - and has ploughed upwards of £90million of it into Brentford, so credit for that - and believes football can be approached the same way.

The report says he’s approached it the wrong way unless I’ve not read it right as it goes on to comparisons. £71m he has written off, on the new stadium. Losses of £15m in 2016. You do realise ffp Is in effect £39m over 3 yrs.
I can’t find out how much griffin park has gone for. Or who the owners were. But if it’s the present owners of the new stadium. That will offset the cost. Brentford are owned by a fan . Massive difference. Plenty of those wish they’d never got involved.
If Wednesday had been owned by a fan. I’m guessing those debts would be written off. Chansiri is trying to buy the riches of the premier league. Not doing it because of his love of the club.
No matter how much anyone puts into a club, it doesn’t guarantee success. Sunderland and Hull 2 prime examples. Look at the clubs who have tried that route and look where they are now. Including the ones mentioned,
    Coventry. ( no stadium)
    Ipswich
    Pompey
    Blackpool
    Bradford
    Bolton
    Wigan
But let’s quote Brentford as the model . ( they use the moneyball theory as well, as stated by one of their directors) You can if you take into account how they’ve got to this stage by using the same principles as Barnsley. We are doing the longer route as we build up from a smaller base. One big difference. They are not fans ( the board ) and willing to take such big risks. They are not in it to lose money. Steady investment. ( whether you believe that or not.) investing in youth. And hoping to progress steadily. Not writing off their own personal money. Another big difference.

    Difficult to quantify mate .
Sollbauer. Ritzmaier. Ludwig were brought in to steady the ship. So added to a bill they didn’t predict.
They were hoping Thiam. Would have gone earlier. Sibbick and Mcgeehan went out on loan. Radlinger was a waste when we had 2 capable goalies better than him. Was brought in by the manager cos he didn’t think the other 2 were ready. We could argue the positives and negatives of finances. The bottom line is to try balance the books. So id think we are actually paying out more wages than this time last year. Since Helik. Frieser. And a couple signed on for the development squad. Some have been given new and extended contracts.
According to the Chronicle. Mowett has been offered new terms. They are a way apart in the money on offer. But I’m guessing he will be in the top 3 wage earners if he accepts. and it’s definitely still in talks as mowett has not shown a great desire to leave. ( if Struber goes, that may free up some of the compensation we get for him) New players in the pipeline. (May not happen. Like the last one. Agents hawking players to the highest bidder)

I understand the need for a sustainable business model and to make the club self sufficient. But if the £7bn figure is true, a £4million signing would be 0.05% of their wealth. Makes you wonder..

Time to accept they are not in the game to lose money. Irrespective of wealth. What if that signing fails.
Eg Thiam. Cavare. Barhre . Pinnilos. Dougle. All left for nothing.
Spent £2m last season. Wilkes. Bahre and Andersen. Does not include Sibbick. Halme. Diaby, Chaplin, Sollbauer Ritzmaier . all undisclosed. According to transfermarket.
Frees we brought in Thomas, Radlinger and Collins.
    Ludwig loan.
    Developement players I’ve left out.

Point being in order to not be fighting relegation year on year, you have to invest a little of your own money I would imagine. It would be nice if they thought, tell you what let's do something a little crazy. Let's invest 0.05% of our (alleged) wealth to help out the team. Let's sign someone proven who is good to go. Maybe that's just a pipe dream. You could say why should they invest their own money. Why should the fans get a bit more for their buck and watch a successful team etc. All I know at the moment is the lads we have are giving their all, and the output is dire.
