Just exactly how is this defined. We had some strange definitions in the Man U game yesterday.
Martial was sent of for a pathetic slap which just brushed the chin of Lamella - OK I get thats a red card these days but if thats a red why wasnt the elbow to the neck by Lamella on him also a red card - it was actually more violent in my opinion - surely either both players get red or both get yellow. Thats before we start on Lamella's simulation. But far far worse was the assault by Shaw when a Spurs player (cant remember which) was running away from him and he deliberately hurled himself into him with a clear sole intention of bringing him down. That could easily have caused serious injury but because he only dove out of control at a player running flat out instead of tapping him with his fingers he got a yellow - so to summarise
Brush your fingers on someones chin = Red
Elbow someone in throat = Yellow
Kick someones legs out from under them whilst they are at full speed = Yellow

    who dreams up this stuff

Referees are shocking. The game is spoilt.

Agree it was ridiculous. That tackle from Shaw was a disgrace, as was Lamela going down like he’d taken a cricket bat to the face

Shaw should have been sent off, he’s also a terrible footballer at that level.

Can't agree more. That tackle by Shaw was a disgrace. Absolutely zero attempt to get the ball

Don’t forget Ludewig last season. Wigan player climbs on his tractor and rams into our player at full speed. The impact is so violent that Killian flies up into the air coming down head first. Could have broken his neck, shoulders or arms but luckily not too badly hurt.

Yellow not red. The game is getting more and more corrupt by the day!

I agree that the standard of refereeing and the inconsistency between referees and often in the same game by a referee is shocking but it's also made increasingly difficult by the dishonesty and cheating by players (and through their silence managers). Every game now is littered with examples of it.

Shaw should have gone. If he’d just clipped him slightly, you could argue a booking, but he had no chance of getting near the ball and simply hacked at Lucas Moura. Looks like they’ve replaced Shaw already anyway.

David Luiz pulling Oliver Burke’s shirt also. Could well have been a red. John Egan was sent off a week or so ago for no worse than that.

Referee’s decisions are bad at times, but it’s the consistency, or lack of, that’s the real problem.

100% agree - retrospective ban. Highly doubt it though. The authorities are complicit, they ignore it as they don't want to rock the boat and damage the reputation of the game - not realising that their inaction is far more damaging.

That's why you're never safe no matter what score line it is in the game. Leicester got three penalties v Man City. Imagine being 5-2 up with ten minutes left and the referee going trigger happy. It's quite possible in today's game. Even though Villa were battering Liverpool but I kept thinking Liverpool were going to comeback.
