    So it is now official government policy to force people working in the artistic industries to retrain into other careers instead of supporting one of the most profitable, viable and valuable industry sectors in the UK. One in which we are truly world-beating and contributes up to 5% of GDP (£110bn per year from Creative Industries). £13m per minute plus the extra into the hospitality, transport and other industries spent by those enjoying the arts and all the tourists that come to the UK specifically for the arts, or pay for our music, tv and other output around the world.

    In combination with the new visa rules that make it harder for overseas talent to work in the UK, Brexit making it harder for British talent to work in Europe and the lack of support throughout lockdown it seems that the government don't want people to actually enjoy themselves outside of the meagre work they can find.

    I give it less than a week before the outcry forces them into another U-Turn.

    F**k Sunak. F**k the Tories.

    Hadnt seen this when I made a similar thread a few minutes after the OP here

    I am now genuinely starting to believe there is a serious exercise in contol of the people going on here - No having fun, bed by 10 , no social contacts its looking like Covid has given our masters a great excuse and they are taking it with both hands. This country is not going to be a good place to live for a long time now and we still havent received the "full benefits" of Brexit yet

    Id almost put that in my OP but decided just to stick with the Arts one. This is going back to the good old days of torture in a good cause never mind that its illegal under International Law - thats taking away our sovereinty - we will torture who we want .

    And the other thing.... What Jobs are they going to retrain for genuinely curious -we kill the Arts, Kill hospitality, wreck the financial institutions, and the car industry - what are these wonderfull new jobs everyone is going to train for

    Well zero-hour contracts at the ever-growing number of Amazon storehouses that will be needed as the high street dies. It’s all coming together. Keep the population under control with real and imaginary fears. Move everything from banking to food delivery online. No need for the pub, sport, arts, theatre cinema with Apple and Netflix. Stay in. Stay safe. Just Eat. Just Obey.

    It’s all make your life easier. Most will believe it. Most think losing their privacy and being tracked doesn’t matter – “it’s nothing to do with me.” Individually maybe. But billions of pieces of data are being used to remodel society in the way our masters see fit.

    This isn’t conspiracy theory it’s happening now. The Cummings Johnson Dictatorship is intent on destroying democracy and things are moving at frightening speed. And don’t forget this is the self-styled ‘People’s Government.’ Anyone who raises a voice against their revolution will therefore be an “enemy of the people.” Dark days ahead.

    Sunak is just pandering to the population of racist baby boomers that love Johnson so much, that think people who work in the arts should "get a proper job", without having the first clue of what they are talking about

    Have you read 'Brave New World Revisited'? Huxley wrote it in 1958 not long before he died. Look it up and read online.

    He goes on a bit but he foretells EXACTLY what is happening now. He says that people who gave out information/propaganda used to worry about the distinction between truth and lies. However what they didn't take into account was man's 'infinite appetite for distraction.' At the time of writing this distraction was provided by TV, radio, and soap operas etc. He predicted that in the future there would be a means of providing the masses with non-stop distraction. There would be no time to dwell on what was true and what wasn't. In this world everything might appear unchanged but behind the scenes the 'thought police' and manipulators would go about their business remaking society as they saw fit.
