Hecky, Stendel and now Struber. Three managers/head coach have quit for basically the same reason. Lack of investment in squad whilst continuing to cash in on better players and not using incoming fees to strengthen . Doubtless somebody hoping to make a reputation will come in and take up the post . However without any investment in the squad whilst creaming off the cash from player sales will only lead to one thing. The demise of the club whilst distancing the board from a dwindling fan base. Not what I paid my hard earned cash on a season ticket for. I won't make the same mistake again if there is a BFC next season.
There's an argument that Struber would have left to join the Red Bull setup regardless and his parting shot on Saturday was more to save face for himself heading in to negotiations with his prospective new employers. Nobody wants to hire a Head Coach on a downer. He wasn't because it was all the board's fault.
To be fair the players sold under hecky winnall, conor and bree would have left for nothing 6 months later he lost Watkins and scowen for nothing. The owners then didnt sell players with 2 years left for peanuts. Hecky didnt have much to moan about he just seemed to lose the plot after those players went signed a load of midfielders and wanted to play 1 up top. When results went **** it was everyone else's fault except his since leaving us he stuck with 1 upfront and has failed at leeds and hibs where other managers then got results with the same team.
Ah, but you're not allowed to criticise the board! Nothing is their fault. Heckingbottom, Stendel & Struber knew exactly what they were letting themselves in for(!) Any success they brought to the club must be automatically ignored. Promotions or survival against the odds will automatically be labelled lucky or the least they should have achieved. If you question the owners, then you're told if we don't do business their way, we'll automatically be the next Wigan, Bury, Bolton, Sheffield Wednesday, etc., as there's definitely no middle ground at all. Also, unless you produce a financial breakdown to the nearest penny, you aren't entitled to question their actions. Being a Happy Clapper seems a distant memory to me now!
Good post - and one I believe many Barnsley supporters can relate to. There is NO CONTINUITY at the club - and there hasn’t been since these owners took over. There was no continuity under Patrick - but he had the excuse that he hadn’t enough money to build anything on the field. These owners have the money to prime the pump that would give the club a chance. But they just haven’t done it. That’s the frustration !!! We arnt talking mega bucks here when compared to most clubs in the Championship. But we are talking a young centre forward costing 2 to 3 million - and the same for a midfield general. It wouldn’t have taken much to give the 3 managers a chance.
These owners are poison, just ask Nice fans to their opinions on this lot. Dane is a puppet, Murray is a puppet and BFC is no longer the fans club, Infact it isn’t even a club anymore. ******* hate these owners, and I hate them for making me fall out of love with Barnsley Football Club. The fans won’t put up with it forever Conway, you might get another few years of them but eventually they’ll walk away just like I have. I didn’t wanna walk away, but I’ve completely lost interest. Our league position is irrelevant to this lot, solong as we keep putting players in the shop window then they’re happy. Under Patrick I could accept it, he saved the club from going out of business and told us tome and time again that he was the reluctant owner and he never wanted to be our owner, however the man tried his very best for us. He spent millions and millions of his own wealth to try and push us on, and whilst we never really pushed on I could accept that because I saw a fellow fan give everything he possibly could for the club we all love or loved. This lot? Don’t even get me started! I warned you all 18 months ago, this isn’t even the start.
Totally agree. Glad I didn't renew our season tickets. These owners are not getting a penny more of my money.
Did Hecky quit or go when Leeds came in for him and offered him a load of money , in fact hadn’t he just signed a new contract the week before
He signed a new contract with a buyout clause the week before the Jimmy Saviles came in for him. His previous contract didn't have such a clause, and so the Jimmies were able to trigger it.
As far as I recall, Heckingbottom stalled on contract talks for months, finally signed, said it was never in doubt then f.cuked off to Leeds 2 days later. Then failed at Leeds. Then failed at Hibs.
