"None have come close to what Barnsley want for him" - shop window. He'll go this week. £2.5 million, no replacement.
Let's hope this is right as regards Mowatt and Woodrow. I fully expect Murray to be in charge for the next few games at least.
Fingers crossed we keep Mowatt in that case, he might well sign a contract if new manager gets him on side and no one tries to sign him this window. Woodrow is all but gone I suspect. Silly that we aren't getting his replacement bought. I can't see any reason we didn't sign a coach during international break when he would have had a week or two to get them used to his style etc. Instead they get used to Murray 5,3,2 and then stop playing it literally a week or two later. Pointless waste of time
I imagine any new coach will need some convincing to come to Barnsley given the nature of previous departures from the role.
Sounds like rumour is both targets were recommended by Struber so by that logic you'd assume he's put a good word in? And both are out of work currently. Doubt anyone needs convincing to take a well paid job when they are unemployed and season is already underway so jobs are likely drying up until Jan
Any coach we hire won't be here in 18 months to 2 years anyway, they all know that, it's just the way it is now. But they'd be in employment for that time, some of the ones we're looking at are unemployed, so I'm sure they'd rather be in a job than not
I find it stunning that we basically knew Struber was leaving around 2 weeks ago and we've got nothing in the pipeline.
If the new coach gets Woodrow back to centre forward and Mowatt back to behind the front two, I don't care who gets the job.
It’s this board all over though innit, glad they’re not running the country under covid we’d be in a worse position than we are under Boris. We’re a mess and will be until the club is once again owned by people who are fans of the club/town/support rather than being here just to earn money.
We've interviewed, depending on what you believe, 4/5 candidates. We interviewed one the day after Struber left. That's a million times quicker than after Stendel to be fair to them and means something must be in the pipeline?
Only the same that have been mentioned around here. Ismael and Zurniger I think they were which seem legit links. No idea who the person was the day after Struber officially left though.
If you are looking at overseas managers it is surely always going to take a bit of time. They may want to see past matches & other information about squad contracts to put a presentation in place as to how they would tackle it. I think we have to accept Murray may be at the helm for a short time. Better to get the right candidate.
