Evidence suggests it can help fight covid so it is being tested in 1000 people to see just how much it helps. Hang on, it's already licenced for use. It's safe. Why piss about doing a test and waiting while people have their lives ruined? Why not just roll it out QUICKLY? Even if it only gives 0.1% protection it's done no harm.
It can’t be that effective, because most of us already get the BCG vaccine as children. Or is that why it disproportionately affects older people ?
Because people think they can't get it go back to doing everything as they would normally do, lot's get it because not that effective loads of death then government blamed for being irresponsible
They believe most people will need boaster for it to be effective against covid19 but if it works may buy us a year to develop a proper vaccine
It would essentially be a top up as I understand it. But maybe it is why it affects them more. Figures show there is a marked increase in deaths over the age of 80. The BCG vaccine was first given to people who would now be around 80. That's probably just a coincidence but it's interesting.
That's fine I'll let you sit in a room with my wife and tell her that her parents have to die so you can go to pub
Well considering I haven't sat in a pub for about 8 months I think that's highly unlikely. Tell your wife to shield her parents instead, that's a good idea.
I may be wrong but I thought vaccines only lasted a certain amount of time. I thought the TB one was 10 or 15 years. It’s to get you through childhood isn’t it as it used to be a big killer of children?
Having the BCG jab at 11 years old is likely to have caused the immune system disorder which has plagued my life. It isn't something to be taken lightly.
Precisely how do you shield only the vulnerable? My missis works in a hospital with vulnerable people. Does she need to shield do she can protect the vulnerable. If so where? For how long? Who pays?
Instead everyone shields? How long for? Who pays? Not saying I have a easy answer but the current route doesn't seem to be having much of a influence anyway as we are told cases are rising despite the restrictions. Meanwhile the restrictions continue to cause great harm to the nation.
As you say no easy answers and even if there were some I wouldn’t trust this govt to enact them but the idea of shielding the vulnerable and no one else I have literally no idea how that works. There are over a million people working in the NHS we can’t stop them Coming into contact with the vulnerable. 7 million people are designated as carers in one form or another again they will come into contact with vulnerable people on a daily basis she cannot stop doing this.
But seen as the virus is spreading anyway nothing we are doing is making a difference anyway. I think we have seen a massive overestimating of how effectively we can control the spread of virus.
again I think not trying to protect vulnerable people will have a catastrophic impact on the NHS, which is in reality, no better prepared now than it was in March. It struggles with a normal winter surges. Again no easy answers at this point and I’m suspicious of anyone on either side of the argument who says there is.
