"Going Forward"

    This little meaningless phrase is almost as ubiquitous as "so". What does "Going forward" add to the discussion, as opposed to what?

    Going backwards or Standing still?

    It means the same as ‘from now on’, or ‘in future’.

    I can’t say that it particularly upsets me.

    I honestly think we're good going forward, but we lack something in the final third. The final ball has certainly been lacking for a while now. I honestly think it's a creative midfielder we're missing although another striker will come in dead handy.

    It is also a pet hate of mine.

    Though it does depend on what sentence it follows I agree. I remember Eddie Jordan on the old F1 coverage constantly saying it pretty much after every concluding sentence. Was annoying.
