He strikes me as a hard working and professional guy, so I hope so. Plus, if he wants to leave he'll get a better deal in January if he works hard over the next few months.
That'd be nice Archey but who should we believe? You? ....or the many on here who are able to 100% guarantee that he will be most definitely gone at a price which will be nowhere near enough?
whoo hoo!! a little glimmer of positivity. I'm with you and Archey UPTC. The Happy Clapper revolution starts here!
I think Mowatt will run his contract down. I think he was played out of position last year & did well in a struggling team, but his set pieces were terrible. I can't see any teams splashing a lot of cash in our direction TBH. Woodrow would do well in the right system and has 2 years on his contract, so money needs to be decent, not £2 million.
Well I know absolutely nothing for certain, and am not acting on any inside knowledge and have not received a tip off from a bloke down the pub (social distancing and all that). This puts me on an even keel with 95% of the BBS I reckon. I just thought I'd post something a bit more positive. It's a dull day already without the constant stream of "when the transfer window closes, and we've sold our best players for nothing and not signed anybody...".
We did however pay out allegedly £1 million in compensation when we got him & his wages & no doubt a decent bonus when we stayed up so I'm not sure we are in profit with him.
Be careful with that there positivity. You might get reported or banned! BTW...love your photo of Shotts. Great player. Great character. Top lad. Seen him a couple of times in Tesco and at Medder Hell last year and before lockdown. Loved chatting about his time with us.
I am preparing myself for an evening of replying to death threats. To be perfectly honest, I know little about Mal Shotton. My dad started taking me to games around 92, and whilst I've definitely seen Shotton play in his 2nd spell here, my memories of him are as part of the coaching staff. I just really like that proper intense stare he gives in this photo.
He was a brilliant player, x-rated in the tackle but could play. Always remember him scoring from 40 yards during the season the Ponte End was being rebuilt in his second spell. Think it was against Sunderland or a very windy Friday night. The East Stand upper was swaying that night. Got to know quite well he, he always had time for fans of all ages.
Heard John Deehan crossed him once on the club bus, something about wives not being allowed onboard. Deehan needed new underwear from the tale I heard. It was put to him by an old lad once on the training ground and he grinned. Which is big thing for Big Mal when he's got his game face on lol!
John Deehan wasn't a fan apparently ;-) Proper hard player but a cracking centre half. Its telling how many fantastic centre halves we've had that he's not talked about more.
Watched a few old games of him playing for Oxford, the forwards are either wincing with their backs to goal or 10ft away from him. Used to love watching him and big Eric together on the training pitch. It was like the football version of the Kray Twins planning a mob hit.
Wasn't he Oxford Captain? First time I saw him was in the Milk Cup Final which they won, very good side they had back then! He was one of those players we managed to get and you immediately thought how have we got him? Surely he's too good for us? Good times.
