Why do we always make it seem really hard work to get deals done? Other clubs taking players on loan, signing players n were still messing about with 24 hours left of a window. Also potentially still losing a couple. Always make it seem hard work!!
Did I hear right, when these owners took over they made a statement that said something along the lines of they`re not going to do anything crazy BUT they will enable us to compete better in this league for new players?
Most have done it steadily across the window - for example Rotherham have brought in 9, including some real quality. Luton done really good business too. We're left rivalling Wycombe for the weakest squad in the division by far.
After the final whistle went against Brentford i reckoned we needed two players to make us more than competitive in the championship and they were defensive mid and a target man and that would have done us but fast forward 3 months and less than 24 hrs to go in the window and we’ve probably got the weakest squad in the league now.
I dont think our squad is weak but we need more. The core of our defense is strong we dont concede many but at the other end we definitely need strengthening
Few clubs doing business from what I can see. Oh wait Derby Just signed 34 year old Colin Kazim Richard's. Not seen or heard of him for must be 10 years. According to BBC Sport. Just 18 deals done so far this week from 92 league football sides. Always left to last day. My hope is that we retain existing squad. And add 3 more. Midfielder, winger and forward
We wont lose a couple, dane said they have learned from mistakes in last summers window (assuming he meant flogging pinnock for peanuts and moore a few days before the window shut and not replacing him) they wouldnt sell mowatt or woodrow on the last day? Or would they?
https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/54560399 This who you mean? 60 odd appearances for L1 & L2 teams? Just what we'd need in the Championship do you think?
What are people going to do if we make two really good signings tomorrow and Woodrow and Mowatt don't leave? That would mean Helik, Frieser, Brittain, Christie-Davies and two more in (assume it's two that the majority rate). Might even be three in the way the journos were talking today. Brown, Ludewig and Ritz out. Styles, Wolfe, Palmer and Williams signing new contracts. Good or bad 'Summer' of recruitment?
I would be very happy and hope that the club can make improvements on the field as a result. I think everyone wants success, the problem some have is that the track record of the owners is at best patchy.
