Yes I know THAT one has but I was thinking of the new one when Herbie organises his new team mates in a mass protest against the owners
Dane Murphy is already getting out his feather quill to tell us all later how we beat off lots of competition for him Let's hope he can find his old form and it's not a panic signing where we are just glad to have anyone through the door.
He certainly played well against us. Young, has come through a top academy with top players, has played a full season in league one and looked great; plus he also had an injury disrupted loan in the championship - so has played at the level even if only a small amount. Has attributes we are clearly lacking in that he is a proper central midfield player, not a bits and pieces number 10 or a winger - and he’s apparently being signed on a permanent deal for a decent transfer fee to boot. I criticise the owners a lot. But this is great business in my view - he may or may not work out for us, any player signing can go either way, but this ticks every box for me. Well done Barnsley Football Club.
With Chaplin and Frieser on the bench as options, plus simoes who could play in behind or up there too, you have to wonder if the club deem a new forward as a requirement if Woodrow is staying. You could say that if we aren’t going to play a big target man (and that doesn’t really fit with the club’s ethos, rightly or wrongly), do we actually need a centre forward or do we just need to play the ones we have in that position? With some work on the training field to get Woodrow to play between the lines of the eighteen yard box in the final third, rather than playing deeper, he could become a true number nine. If he gets chances he will score - he needs a couple to build confidence and sharpness and they won’t come with him playing in midfield. I’d still love to see a forward signed today but I’m not convinced the club will see it as a necessity.

DM: We can announce our new signing Herbie Kane from Liverpool. We have been tracking Herbie for months now........
I think its a good point. Aside from Frieser missing absolute sitters, I actually think we've 2 good forwards. The problem we've got is the sales market for our failures is very limited now with L1 and 2 clubs struggling massively to survive. Ideally i'd ship out Adeoyejo, Miller and Schmidt and bring in one good forward who could compete with Woodrow and Chaplin, and concentrate any other acquisitions into midfield that aid our creativity and improve the quality of chance our strikers end up feeding off. We also desperately need to get goals from our midfield and more from our set pieces. A goal every few games from a set piece takes off a lot of pressure.
Well done to all concerned, exactly the kind of player we need. Decent in the tackle can pass and can shoot and take set pieces. Im quite critical of our board but well done good signing. Im sure he he will go straight in for saturday.
I disagree on Schmidt with the right supply he'd be our best striker. He hasn't had a fair crack at it for me.
I'd much rather be trying to get the best from Woodrow and Chaplin starting. Hopefully its a case that he's developing, because we're stuck with him for 3 years (maybe +1), so if we did spend £1.2m, I don't see how we recoup money for him to cover that outlay. At this point, he's slightly less prolific for us than Victor ;-)
