Toney has developed into a fantastic player, however, how many would have taken him over Ashley Fletcher had we had the opportunity to sign one of them a few years ago?

I've only scored 1 fewer. That's not a very good yardstick of quality.

Just regarding penalties, three out of the last four have been missed in the Prem over the weekend.

That’s not the norm though is it. Also I think prem keepers tend to know exactly what each teams penalty taker will do, still don’t save many normally

Like I said earlier, the XG for a pen is 0.78. So about 1 in 5 are missed.

True, if I said he is joint top scorer in the league with 5 goals would have been better, let's forget how few we have scored. I remember when we sold moore and we made a inquiry about toney reds fans were going mad saying he wasnt good enough etc etc. For me he is better than anything we have.

I like him. Liked him when he was here, although we had better at the time. Think Woodrow would enjoy playing alongside him. Chance missed though, he'll be forever out of our price range now.

I’ve just had a look at both on YouTube. I know what kind of goals I’ve seen Cauley score over the last 2 seasons, wanted to compare with Toney.

Different players in fairness, but in terms of variety of range of finishes, Toneys not in the same league as our Cauley.

Both did well in league one, but where Toney has the advantage now is he’s surrounded by better players and probably played in his preferred role.

My preferred roll is definitely granary. Unless it's a breakfast bap, in which case it's soft white all the way.

I'm cringing as I type this.

By breakfast bap do you mean a teacake? ;)

No! I meant any combination of sausage, egg, beans, tomatoes, bacon, black pudding and mushrooms and tomato ketchup (but NOT brown sauce as it mings) in a bread roll / bap / breadcake (same thing) for breakfast. In my house, a teacake was a white roll with raisins, toasted and buttered. We also sometimes had crumpets, which my dad called pikelets. To be honest I can cope with all of these different nomenclatures, but when I moved to Lincolnshire, and found out that in the Midlands they make their sandwiches on a "cob", I got rather disturbed. A cob for me was always sweetcorn. Manchester - barmcake. Wtf?!

Haven't you just described a currant teacake? :p

I think it's the intellectual stimulus of the conversation that keeps drawing me back here.

I agree, where else can you get a thread talking about a decent Championship player, ending up with talking about the difference between teacakes, baps and barmcakes?

    lol :)

EDIT - we should start a competition where we have to get from subject A to subject B in less than 30 comments. :)

Problem is that we probably would have been able to sign Toney if we had been able to spot the ability. Let him slip through our fingers for the likes of Miller and Adeboyejo. That's a lack of ability to spot a striker.

Just watching recording of Quest, that physicality and determination to score deserved a hat trick. Fair play to Ivan, he's not struggling at all with the step up the divisions.
