How would a target man remotely fit the style of play we've openly spent 3 years signing players to fit in to, coaches to coach to, and managers to manage to?
Chaplin and Woodrow have been useless on the ground for a while, never mind in the air. I don't believe that we need a big bloke to hold it up. We don't use wingers to get to the line to pull it back for a big bloke. The "forwards" are quite good at playing their part in moving towards the opposition goal. We need someone to look like they can score. Which all our forwards look gobbo at. Apart from Scmidt who only bobs up once in a blue moon.
He was on serious cash at Boro who’s fans absolutely hated him for lack of application. I agree we need a big man to come in as a plan b, but the likes Gestede aren’t the answer.
I agree we do need a dominant target man but are there any free agents with these attributes out there
Problem is that day hasn't happened for probably three years. Awful attitude if you believe the reports. And how do we play our normal game if you've got a lazy Gestede wandering around up front?
We're crying out for someone upfront who can put themselves about and win headers. Someone like that Kieffer Moore at Cardiff or Jacob Brown at Stoke would be an ideal signing.
I definitely think we are a full back and someone clever to link play like Mackem used to do for us. Doesn’t have to be a lump just someone to win headers and hold up.
Can’t just be someone good in the air who can hold a ball up. They need to be a work horse to fit the system & they need to be able to be the one that does the selfless work to make space for Woodrow or whoever plays alongside them. Both Fletcher & Watkins did the role alongside Winnall, Moore did it alongside Woodrow & Brown did it alongside Chaplin.
If the "board " refuse to spend, why doesn't the coach use his noggin and shove halme up front, he is 6ft whatever and proved he can put his self about
