His improvements brought extra work for me and my colleagues. That never goes down well and he had no people skills or authority. Nobody actually knows when he left. He kind of just fizzled away.

Lots of discussion about the type of forward who would fit and we would approve of, or not. So just for a bit of fun - using Reds forwards of the past, give an example of one you'd approve of (mobile, stronger, better in the air than we currently have etc) and one you wouldn't (not intended as an insult to most of the forwards I remember btw but the games changed........)

I'll propose: David Geddis and Brian Mahoney

    Go on then.

I think most people would pick Ashley Ward but the circumstances in which we bought him were nowhere near the situation we're normally in and are in now. So I agree, David Geddis. What a good player he was.

OK, I'll change Ashley Ward to Andy Rammell. Truly under rated striker, scored on his debut at Blackburn Rovers iirc. I "borrowed" my Dad's car to take me and my mate to the game

Yep. I'd stick with Geddis but I wouldn't say no to having Rambo in the squad. :)

    Neil Shipperley and Dave Regis.

It always amazes me how so many strikers get away with such limited skill sets. Unless you're bagging 25+ a season I expect you to be able to hold the ball, drop into midfield, run the channels and press defenders week in week out. I honestly think they get an easy ride compared to other positions.
