Uk government: "we can't get them to move into the care homes"

Lovely thread. People on here arguing vehemently whether they are having human rights violated with lockdowns, whether 80 year old should be restricted, whether herd immunity is the way to go, making Care workers live with the vulnerable. We even managed to get WW2 Afghanistan and the Gulf War into the thread!!.

And yet many on here are those who constantly criticise the Govt for muddled thinking and incompetence. That is true, but by the same token, thank God that the country in not run by a committee made up of the ...ahem... clear thinkers....on this thread. Everyone has their own opinions on how to deal with Covid many of them diverse. Governments are no different they are just people and all the conspiracy theorists on here who constantly claim ulterior motives whenever Governments introduce some measures they disagree are frankly absurd. And YES, RH I would post this if Labour and Corbyn had been in office.
It is not a defence of the Govt reign of chaos but an indictment of the usual suspects on this board. I note another thread where the same group (they know who they are), are arguing amongst themselves about Starmer's politics as leader of the oppostion The Cons must be laughing their socks off!

 

To be fair you’d have to dig a little to find the stories, but it did happen.

Society is never a single entity behaving perfectly for the common good. People resisted, criminals took advantage of empty houses to commit burglaries, people who thought they knew better tried to get on with ‘normal’, people escaped conscription etc etc.

Much as I believe there’s some right bell Endery on this subject, I’ll defend their right to an opinion.

 

Of course they have a right. To see it as some big worldwide sinister conspiracy though to control us is a bit silly. I disagree with an awful lot of it, but we need to try and reduce the burden on the NHS. If people are losing their livelihoods then the govt can and should step in- doesnt mean the restrictions are all wrong though.

 

This is correct as it wasn't mandated. However, when questioned Gove said an hour a day and the media ran and ran with it until it became common thought.

 

Actually it was because I was instructed to do it and I follow rules.

 

I never saw or heard that on mainstream media but I did used to see it on here. I used to follow the guidance on Gov. Uk which quite clearly had no limitation on time other than the once a day. As a result I went on a 5-7 mile walk every other day to keep fit.

 

I agree with you. I remember reading the actual advice and coming to the same conclusion. I then started walking but had to put up with some funny looks when I sat down to eat my sarnie.

No time for a sandwich when doing 7 mile in 2 hrs. I used to get funny looks cos according to them I should have been confined to barracks at my age.
