That's quite correct. But if you have the choice as manager to pick em, then you'll get stick if they're marooned on the bench whilst we're struggling on the pitch. It's impossible for these players to improve us if they don't get the call. Wheher we'd improve if they'd been on, nobody will ever know.
I thought he was excellent , shows how people differ , thought he ran the game in the 1st half with his setting up of the 2nd goal proving what a class act he is , he had one wild strike in the 2nd half which people will remember & conveniently turn a blind eye to all the good things he did in the match .
I agree. We played with a lot of creativity tonight and were unlucky not to win. Woodrow, in particular, has looked far more impressive these last two games, and it was good to see Murray include Oduor and Simoes in the starting line-up. These lads enjoy taking men on and have an abundance of natural ability. We failed to win tonight because of an absolutely horrific, if uncharacteristic error from Walton.
Lee & Conway haters hate Murray because he cost Stendel his job according to Goldy Red, so regardless of who the opposition are or the results he's ****. The non Lee & Conway haters don't care either way about Murray but if he does a good job then thats fine, if he's replaced by a manager then so be it. His record: P7 W0 D5 L2 Barnsley 1 Swansea 1 WBA 2 Barnsley 2 Huddersfield 2 Barnsley 1 Barnsley 2 Bristol City 2 Barnsley 2 Stoke City 4 Barnsley 2 Bristol City 2 Stoke City 2 Barnsley 2 5 games against recent Premier League teams, who regardless of how well they are doing could tear any team a new arsehole with the players available and the other two against Bristol City, who have spent some. He's not my choice for manager but l don't think he's done too bad given the opposition during his two tenures so far.
I guess I'd count as a Lee and Conway "hater" but I agree with the rest of your post. I'm sure I'm not the only one.
You're not. I think Gordon Owen nailed it on how I feel about Adam Murray, I think he also got it right about those who refuse to give him a chance. However, I don't like our owners, but I fit perfectly into his very astute description of those who are willing to see how it goes. It's a very good observation, it's just not as black and white as that.
0.71 PPG whilst in charge. That's all that matters isn't it? It's all we were ever told if we had the nerve to criticise Struber.
Didn’t think we played as well have some have made out against Bristol but I do think we were a lot better last night. Just felt we ran out of ideas a bit towards the end against a side that sat deep. It’s moments like that where the failure to get a striker with any height in hinders us. Almost every cross we hit was low as it’s pretty pointless trying to get Woodrow, Schmidt or Frieser to out jump a Stoke defender. It felt like the subs weakened us if anything. Thomas has got bundles of energy but one thing he doesn’t seem to have is a killer pass & unless Schmidt gets a perfect ball played to him it’s hard to imagine him doing anything to impact the game. Overall though I thought we were excellent for 70 minutes. New lad Brittain did well, I like Williams in the back 3, Oduor made fantastic runs & got in great positions just his end product let him down, Mowatt & Palmer look a really good partnership. Palmer sitting allowed Mowatt to go forward more & set up great chances for Frieser, Woodrow & Oduor. Woodrow & Frieser were making good runs behind the Stoke defence which I’ve wanted us to do for ages as it’s felt like everyone has wanted to come short for the ball & we haven’t stretched sides enough since Brown left.
7 games in 2 spells - both times taking over when the side was playing poorly. Its hardly enough to go on Not a Lee and Conway Hater - but not a fan of them either. But I agree with Gordon Owen above Murray isnt my choice for manager either but to say he isnt suitable based on 2 short spells is pushing it a but. FWIW I thought he got the subs wrong last night - we were tearing Stoke apart down both sides with Oduor on the left and Brittain on the right until he took Brittain off for Thomas and moved Frieser onto the left instead of Oduor and then our threat almost disappeared. No point putting Schmidt on when you have stopped creating chances
Tbf I was just being facetious. I thought we played well last night - but I did think the subs changed the game. We were stretching their back 4 all over the width of the pitch and it was only a matter of time before we scored - but then the subs changed it. We then had to try and play through two banks of four - and it was impossible. I wouldn't be too unhappy with Murray in charge going forward - at least we set up to attack the opposition with players in their correct positions.
It looks like Murray isn't getting the job now, but either way it would be unfair to judge him after only a few games in each spell, mostly against the better teams in the Championship I must say. If he was to get the job, however, we must be patient to allow him to put his mark on the team. If he doesn't get the job, we must thank him for his efforts in keeping a semblance of continuity going.
Good info Gordon, you can see he's been a stabilising influence when in charge and can get a point against tough opponents. I don't have a problem with him and don't know anything about allegations against him. Daniel Stendel has been and gone,it was great but it's in the past. Ben (Loko), says he doesn't want to be a Head Coach again and I understand that. I would prefer a positive play' coach, irrespective of their nationality. As for the owners, I'm not a hater but they must pay the balance of what they owe to purchase the club. Until they do that, they are "Cuckoo's in the nest".
