I eat a pie with a knife and fork if its on a plate with chips and veg (pref mushy peas)
if its just a pie or pasty on its own I dont though

Don’t you agree that veg just spoils a pie

I love veg with a pie and mash (though a very very rare treat).

Though I do think if the contents of a pie aren't brown, it can't possible be called a pie!

No I dont agree - Pie chips and mushy peas or Pie mash and onion gravy both work for me
Not sure that boiled veg go so well so cauliflower and sprouts dont work for example

Oh come on what about a chicken and ham pie

and thats before we start on apple pies etc :)

I love cauliflower broccoli and carrots with pie and mash ;-)

Chicken in a pie *pulls face*.... you've definitely been in the south too long! ;-)

And fruit in a pie is just off the charts of epic wrongness.

Nope, my rule.... its not a pie if its not brown stuff inside. and having seen people eating pies at football down the years, some of the brown stuff I definitely couldn't describe.... but its still a pie! ;-)

    Each to his own
I didnt know a chicken and ham pie was a southern thing - sure I used to get given them when I was growing up in wombwell - Mum used to put the cooked chicken left over from Sunday lunch in a pie sometimes.
And as for dissing an Apple pie words fail

we will just have to disagree on this one

Never liked the taste of cooked apples. Though love them in their natural form.

I'd be interested to hear what others say, but in my childhood it was meat and potato pie or some form of stewed steak variety. Chicken was never an option. The reverse was true for my other half from the south, that she never had beef related pies.

This to me is pie heaven. I prefer copious amounts of HP sauce to be liberally added as an added extra.

I used to take a mince beef and onion pie or a scotch pie n' beans in my lunch box and re-heat it at work for my snap when I worked nights.

I love apple pies and apple crumbles, but can't eat cooked bananas. I love bananas but the sheer thought of cooking them makes me cringe

    I've never cooked a banana. I've barbecued it a few times :D
