Can't be helped. Obviously he didn't fit in for whatever reason at Oakwell.

What do people expect? He should be good in L1.

He wasn’t so good in the Champ, and struggled. Possibly for various reasons - but for us and Hull, he didn’t cut it.

He never really got a big run of starts here, he then told the manager he should be starting and it didnt go down well. Apparently a bad attitude. If he got the same chance ritzmaier did playing week in week out for 6 months regardless of how shocking he was things could have been different.

L1 is the pond we fish in. I bet he sat at the top of the spreadsheet at the moment.

I'd always back buying a player who has perhaps lost his way a little bit. It's a gamble but no more of a gamble than picking up players from lower leagues in countries that have a lot lower league structure than we do. It sometimes gives you a better chance of signing a standard of player beyond your normal reach. Wilks didnt work out, we don't really know why, perhaps it was his fault and he truly had to hit the bottom (well Hull anyway) before looking up.
In support of my argument, I give you Glavin, Hignett and Hamill
Mind you, in the interest of balance I also give you Mido and Frimpong :D

Pisses me off massively this - he has pace and strength which is what everyone says we require.

We were too quick to dismiss him, Chaplin or Wilks up front? I know who I’m having!

Yes, he did score goals for Hull in a ***** side at this level last year before anyone starts....

He simply didn’t look interested, it’s no good flogging a dead horse, if he’s not willing to buy into the work required and thinks he can just swan around giving it the big I am because it’s only Barnsley and I’m better then this, then you’ve not got much choice. You can lead a horse to water...

But he chose us over Hull last season so really going to Hull was a step down?

McCann is getting the best out of him, why did Struber dismiss him without giving him a chance? Murray gave him a go when he was caretaker last time around...

Our management team surely failed in this one!

I had £10 on him to be top scorer in L1 this season at 150/1 with BetVictor. Everywhere else he was 40 and 50 to 1 so a bit of value and a good start.

I remember Ipswich thought they’d robbed us blind when we signed Kieffer Moore.

Sometimes players don’t do well at one club then find somewhere where it works for them

Mmmmm... I think I totally agree ....let's resume here. We bought Moore for £750k and sold him for... (anybody's guess but at least twice that) he played a significant part in getting us promoted from league one (an act Ipswich are now trying to emulate). mWhere the board got it so wrong is that they didn't realise how hard it would be to replace him. Would we have turned a point from either of the last two games into three points if he'd still been playing for us?? I actually think so.

A lots said about Chaplin at this level, and I’m not really a massive fan myself, but I didn’t realise that last season was his best season at any level in his career.

Many will be thinking he’s not done it for us, time to move him on. He’s rightly thinking he’s done well in scoring 13 goals at the highest level he’s ever played.

Like Wilkes, you just know that if he drops down a level he’ll score for fun now. It’s easier down there.

My pal who's Donny fan said before he joined he was a frustrating player to inconsistent. Often a passenger for much of the game but could then put a shift in for 10mins and be the match winner. He clearly has ability but all down to attitude. Step up from League 1 to Championship is a big one. For all the baggage he had I think we did good business moving him on.

I think Wilks was crap for us last season and we rightly sold him. I i've always thought Chaplin was crap and knew his run of goals was a purple patch another Dagnall.

It's an interesting one with Wilks. Mccann got the best our of him at Donny and now seems to be doing so again at Hull but let's bet honest he's plying his trade in a division with a lot less quality. I don't think he looked interested during his short stay at Barnsley and we couldn't keep someone with a **** attitude.

Regarding Chaplin I agree with you. I just don't think he's is good enough for us. Had that purple patch last season but done nothing else. Hope he proves me wrong like but I don't see him scoring goals for us.

I'd try him out wide before disgarding him as I think he offers more than Thomas.
