Its a couple of weeks now since club said we were would look to add striker from free agent market. Like many armchair scouts I have been checking out who is available players from https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/

A few names I came across:

    Adama Diamonde - 5' 11" 30 y/o Norweigen international (ex Hull City)
    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Adama_Diomande

Kaylen Hinds - 5' 11" 22 y/o England Youth (ex Arsenal, released by Watford)
    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kaylen_Hinds

    Dorde Jovanovic - 6' 1" 21 y/o Serbian U21
    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Đorđe_Jovanović_(footballer)

    Yaya Sonogo - 6' 4" 27 y/o France youth int.
    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Yaya_Sanogo

    Rudy Gestede - 6' 4" 32 y/o France youth int / Benin international
    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rudy_Gestede

I believe we have goals in our attack. Woodrow and Chaplin are proven but need to add consistency. Freiser and Schmit have potential but need to get game time and add goals. What we lack in attack is physicality.

Why do people mention physicality and then throw Gestede out there? He's weak as piss!

It's five goals in three games since the shackles were released a bit. Who knows what balance the new guy will try and find.

What is the point, if they were any good they would have snapped up by now & if we did sign someone it could be weeks before they get up to matchday fitness & the new window is only a few weeks away , hopefully our new coach can get our current crop firing & meanwhile start planning for january asap .

Now coming round to Red CB's way of thinking, we can easily cope with the next few weeks and hope that the new Gaffer has summat in mind and gets backed by the board..
like many on here i think were a gnat's away from clicking and once we do we won't look back ( I've bin optimistic for 50 years nah) COYR

Only added Gestede as mentioned by everyman and his dog on here before me. His best days are behind him. He may not be the most physical player but he is a handful and has scored goals at this level.

Gestede aside. Some interesting options. Diamonde at this level will score goals. Hinds and Jovanovic could be good additions and fit the model. Sonogo is good age, played and scored goals in English football.

Gestede is a handful for the manager in the dressing room and the chairman paying his pay packet.

Sonogo hasn’t scored goals in English football. I think it’s three for Charlton and zero elsewhere.

Is Diamonde the striker who flopped at Hull and was absolutely terrible? Best level he’s played at and he failed to score goals.

Kaylen Hinds we know absolutely nothing about as he hasn’t played enough first team games or scored any league goals. Same for the Serbian as well, hasn’t broken double figures in total goals so based on stats alone we have no idea if he’d be useful as his level is way below where we are now.

Now we've got the engine room sorted the strikers we've got will get goals with the confidence of knowing they'll get chances. I think they all died of shock last night.

I'd give Sanogo a chance, given the youth international pedigree and assuming low wage demands.

He's not really realised his potential, but there was obviously potential there.

I thought he looked **** at Arsenal. Maybe he hasn't realised his potential because he's crap?

We've scored 8 goals in 4 games since Struber left. The missed chances at the end of last night's game were frustrating, but we've seen that Schmidt in particular is capable of better when he gets chances, so can forgive it a bit more when we're 3-0 up.

None of those would improve our squad. Maybe we're resigned to trying to play attractive football as opposed to 'lumpin it'.

We could have Henry and Bergkamp up front and some posters on here would still want a Kieffer Moore type!

I think if we’re in the dying embers of a game and are lumping it forward, we’ll send one of our CB’s forward. However, that’s a last resort. We’re better than ‘lump it forward to the big man’ football.

I reckon a regular playing Schmidt slots a couple of those away imo.
Can’t expect a player to come on playing like he’s never been out of the team straight away .
