For fitter read more athletic/quicker and it's a valid point. I think Usyk beats any fighter who will plod and chop and he can dance around all night.

Fury, AJ, Wilder would all put a very different pressure on Usyk. He can't dance around those fighters in the same way. It's the different way of fighting and the better footwork. He makes it competitive against them all, but I don't think he can realistically do enough to beat them.

Usyk is so overrated. He couldn't stop someone who's now reached double figures for defeats. AJ will finish him inside four rounds. He is a hype job who spent most of the time skipping around the ring in a circular motion to avoid his past his best opponent. A boring fight and those who bought it on box office should be refunded.

You need not worry. He's just towed against Chisora.

I personally don't see him troubling the top heavies.

I wouldn’t say he will beat Fury or AJ but he can beat them.

Otto Wallin is a southpaw who doesn’t hit hard & is a mover who took rounds off Fury & gave him a hard night. Usyk’s basically a better version of him.

Povetkin & Ruiz got inside against AJ repeatedly so Usyk definitely can. He’s got faster hands & feet than them two.

Usyk’s also never been knocked down. Took flush shots on occasion from Chisora tonight that rocked Fury (1st fight) & Whyte & he never wobbled.

Everyone should be a fan of Usyk. Go through his record. Fought about 10 world class fighters all in their backyard. No ones done that in my lifetime. Different breed. One things for sure is he’ll make the fights with the top heavies. You won’t hear any nonsense about purse splits & promoters bickering when Usyk’s involved.

I'd give him a chance against wilder, as wilder only has one weapon and he's a naturally smaller heavyweight. I can't see him getting past AJ. not enough power. and I wouldn't give him a single round against fury. elite boxer usyk, but I just don't think he has enough firepower to trouble the top heavyweights.

Do you watch heavyweight boxing? Name me some heavyweight fights that have been fought at a pace like that tonight.

It was 12 rounds at a fast pace. In most heavyweight fights they have a round at that pace & then take two rounds off to recoup.

If he’s not special why did he win an Olympic gold medal then win a cruiserweight world title in a record number of fights, then unify & be ranked top 5 P4P?

You make a great point but at the same time you can say none of them three have ever fought a heavyweight like Usyk. That’s what makes the fights so intriguing

I think Usyk has an easier time with Wilder, loses on points to Fury, and has the toughest fight with AJ.

Styles make fights as we know.

I watch lots of Boxing. I’ve been to numerous world title fights around the world but thanks for the patronising comments.

Interestingly Nelson and Froch said the same as I did. The pace wasn’t that hot, Usyk throws punches in bunches when he knows the opponent isn’t going to commit. He was taken very close by a journeyman heavy who is wild at best.

Chisora is a slugger, with zero technique who was breathing heavy after round one. Don’t give me high work rate, if he had a high work rate Chisora wouldn’t have lasted 4 rounds let alone 12.

Sky’s pundits are getting ridiculed on twitter for having it close. A lot of fighters seem to be scoring it 117-111 which I agree with.

It’s poor that Bellew who’s close mates with Chisora & Coldwell who used to train him are working as pundits. At least Macklin & Froch were a bit more impartial

Sorry if it came across that way but I’m going through other top heavyweights in my head & cant think of any of them fighting close to that pace.

I really don’t see the pace you are suggesting, I really don’t mate. I thought he was really pedestrian.

I’m not knocking his record btw. I just don’t see enough to suggest his skill and lack of power will even get close to Fury, AJ, Wilder etc.

I’d even back Ruiz to beat him.

There's different types of pace. But I know you know your boxing so you'll get that.

Chisora was always going forward so it was a fast pace on that front. But it was a plod. There was no in and out movement. No combinations. It was a very, very limited Chisora. Not even the same speed in the wild swings that we saw vs. Takam and Szpilka.

Usyk blocked a lot of those rights with his left glove. But even if he hadn't, they never looked like they were being thrown with the same velocity as 1-2 years ago. I can see Del Boy being fed to the Joyce/Dubois winner, but he's now a gatekeeper to a prospect hoping to be Top Ten and nothing more.

Totally skipped me by (looks awful!). But more importantly, why would you avoid posting about something you know the most about? There's only ever one thread every couple of weeks with the same 6/7 people anyway.

Because comments like dreamboys are just nauseating and it's best to avoid it.
But if anyone is serious I have a boxing groupchat on facebook, DM me if interested or just DM if anyone ever wants to talk boxing lol.

Really looking forward to Tank-Santa Cruz later, stylistically should be real good.

But Dreamboy is Dreamboy. That happens in a lot of threads. Hopefully you'll see from the others there's decent boxing knowledge and debate on here.

I think if we post all night some of us aren’t going to agree but I’ve just seen a tweet that sums up my thoughts on it & that’s that Sky have spent the last 12 months telling us that Dillian Whyte is a top 3 heavyweight & Usyk’s just had a far easier night against Chisora than Whyte did in either fight with him.

Regardless of how Usyk fares against Fury or AJ tonights win should be seen as a pretty impressive victory in someone’s first proper fight at heavyweight by anyone’s standards.

This will be his last ever win of note. Hes a hesitant fighter in this weight and he'll earn good money in his next fight and then drop weights. Job done.

That could've just been based on his record rather than anyone thinking it means he beats all other contenders. Not many heavyweights have a record as good as Whytes; Wins over Joseph Parker, Rivas etc..
Ring Magazine even had Whyte in their top three.
