You can’t play this many games, with our style of play, in so little days. Plus having to get the coach down on the day - just plays havoc with hamstrings and general strains. We just look off the pace - which is no surprise. Perhaps we need a plan c for games like this - where we’re going to be leggy....
Our style of play being whack it up front as quick as possible, then get knackered chasing the ball till we eventually get it back?
The tactic of Odour to Walton used twice in the first two minutes of the second half you would think we were winning. Why we playing the long ball against one of the most physical and tallest sides in the league? We just played a long ball in the air to Styles who had no chance.
our squad isn't good enough to sustain the level of intensity he's after, over a full season. he'll realise that soon enough.
Then it’s wrong tactics . If you think we’re knackered and can’t compete with the number of games then that’s wrong tactics . We have to play to our strengths . We seem to be doing something different from post lockdown either attitudes or better opposition .
It's not a game too far, it's only just November, it's a shocking team selection from the manager and even worse formation and tactics.
Its only his third game, he's not even been in charge for a fortnight! He's bound to make mistakes and tbh I'd rather he did so away from home against a side we were always going to struggle physically with.
Errrr, that’s what my original post said. Acknowledge when we can and can’t play the press, and alter tactics accordingly i.e. plan c.
I prefer not giving the ball away too easy and cheaply . Saves a lot of energy and doesn’t gift the oppo . Press as much as you want every game then imo .
That's like me going into work on my third week and connecting my monitor to the toaster, microwaving my keyboard and shoving the mouse up my arse then claiming it's just a mistake.
Tbf I don’t think he would have thought the players in the squad would start a football game as if they’d never seen a football and be confused as what to do with it when it came to them .
He played three tiny forwards up front, away from home, and another at wing back then instructed us to play it high and long. It's incompetence beyond my electrical mishaps.
Think you're right, this has been about getting basics wrong. Basics that any manager should be able to assume his squad can do. He has to find out why that's happened.
Not sure he instructed them to play it long first half tbh . We were giving Cardiff the ball from point blank range . Not defending his team selection in any way ad I thought it was shall we say brave ?
Whilst there may be an element of that I don't think we can put it down to that because we've been more energetic and better in the second half. It comes down to our long term problem, that we don't have the physical presence, will, application and well balls when we play more physical opposition like Cardiff. I think they had a roasting at half time and as a result came out with more intent but we were awful first half. Disappointing and frustrating but not particularly surprising imo.
