Ok, Senate Judiciary Committee then. It doesn't change the point I was making which was that Trump was responsible for putting her forward as a candidate rather than installing her.

The Senate Judiciary Committee (Republican controlled of course) broke senate rules by rushing a vote on her quickly.

It is what it is, but if they steal the election in the Supreme Court there’s going to be a civil war. If they don’t there might well be too.

    Very worrying times.

Two people who have been open about voting for the Orange one.
1, Steve Bannon a Trump supporter who advises him say's the FBI chief wants decapitating and his head placed outside the Whitehouse.
    2. Trump Jr say's his father should bring about an all-out war if he loses this election.
You just could not make these sort of things up.

Yes a GA recount can be requested if it’s < 0.5% difference, which it will be. Has to be requested within 2 working days.

There’s not any automatic recount rules, but it’s gonna be requested 100%.

I was just wondering if there was a source for the announcement that it would be automatic. That seems to go against GA rules so I’d be interested in that. I can’t see any official source in the sky news article

Just looked up the Georgia recount - the Secretary of State isn’t ordering it, he’s just saying that it’s inevitable.

this isn't news tbf. was always the case that if the lead was <0.5% there would be a recount if requested

I just wanted to comment on this point which keeps getting repeated about Obama bringing healthcare to millions. No one mentions the millions who lost it, as they can't afford it.
The one thing Trump did for healthcare, was get rid of the mandate, i.e. there was a tax / fine for people who didn't purchase insurance. At least that is now a personal choice.
I have lived and worked here for 25 years and had insurance through my company. I had deductions from my salary and co-pays, which went up over time, although the company absorbed most of the annual increases.
I took early retirement in April 2019. By law, I have to be provided with Cobra coverage. This means that I must be allowed to continue my existing coverage for 18 months after leaving a job, although I have to pay the full premium, plus 2% in addition.
As of 01/11/2020, I had to get personal insurance for the first time. I purchased the Silver HMO policy. Bronze was not sufficient and Gold and Platinum too expensive. Without going into the differences, PPO insurance is more expensive than the HMO I purchased, as it gives you more choices, but I didn't go that route.
I'm now paying over $1,400+ a month for medical insurance, for a 61-year old guy with no major medical issues. Dental and Vision is extra.
Where is the AFFORDABLE in the ACA (AKA Obamacare)?

That sounds insane. I just wouldn't be able to afford that.

As someone who has lived over there for years, why is the thought of public, state healthcare so abhorrent to most Americans?

My wife puts it down to fear of ‘communism’ and a lot of misinformation about how much taxes would have to raise, but she hasn’t lived there in a good while.

It’s an automatic recount if within 0.5 providing one of the candidates requests it. That’s the state rules
