I see on Twitter that the police officer has been charged. No idea if it’s unlawful wounding or wounding with intent though.
Sorry, what I meant was that they are both unlawfully and maliciously wounding, but sec 20 unlawful wounding is wounding without any intent. Sec 18 is wounding with intent to do grievous bodily harm. Just wondered what the actual charge is and whether they saw the offence as having the intent or not
I welcome this news. Did I imagine it or was there another report of the complaint that suggested that no further action was contemplated? I'm not sure whether it's section 18 or section 20 of the Offences Against the Person Act 1861, but the section 20 offence carries a 5 year maximum term, which should be enough for the sentencing judge. The officer is entitled to put any defence and/or mitigation he may have, and even now we shouldn't pre-judge. But the footage of the incident is one of the most appalling scenes I've witnessed involving a serving police officer. If there is any justification or mitigation, I repeat that it deserves to be heard. But the matter quite rightly should be scrutinised by a Crown Court and the officer dealt with according to the jury's findings (including if they acquit for some reason) and the judge's view of that conduct.
I’ve not seen any info on this - so I don’t know the story behind it. But looking at this thread - then the police officer has straight away been found guilty. So what did this young guy do? Because I’m of a certain age that believes the police should be let off their leash to do what is necessary. If that means handing out some boooit - then so be it.
First up, he hasn't been found guilty. Second, you seriously, seriously need to find that footage and then come back with a (non wind-up) opinion.
Because it’s sometimes necessary. For example - I’m glad I don’t speak German. Or that it’s our national language. He says - the day after the 11th of the 11th.
From the footage I saw the officer was under no imminent threat, he ran across the road and viciously assaulted the lad. He lost control and therefore is unfit to serve in uniform any longer.
Lol ...... yer just said that yer glad that he’s been charged. Did I wind yer up ??? Sorry sweetheart.
The police aren’t allus angels. Anyone who came up against the met. Will testify to that.and I saw it in spades. I called on the police in a meeting to suspend him. ( telling em in any other line of work that that person would be sacked) Not desk duties. What he did was appalling, irrespective of what the lad did.( Which I’m not condoning) . Over and beyond reasonable force. Which actually the police are allowed to use in their duty. But not to that extent. Young Nudge at his best Not aware of the incident. Lauding coppers. A union rep who obviously never went on the picket line
I'm glad that his conduct will be examined by a criminal court. On the face of it there appears no reasonable excuse for the excessive force he used. That said, the footage may not tell the whole story and if he has any defence or explanation he is entitled to put it. If none is forthcoming then he deserves everything that will come to him. As for your second remark, no - you haven't the capability or the intelligence to wind me up. As for your third, you'll have to explain that yourself! But just out of interest, as you're of "a certain age", how old are you? Genuinely interested.
This is a Barnsley message board. A message board where the majority of posters are hard edged miners or from proud mining stock. Sometimes I have to double check to see if I haven’t logged in to the ‘My Little Pony’ message board. I’m always on the side of the police - unless something is proved otherwise. And I’m sure most in the UK have that view.
So talk to a few hard edge miners about Orgreave or Hillsborough and then come back and tell us what you've discovered.
https://www.independent.co.uk/news/...yorkshire-teenager-police-baton-a9327236.html The incident is on the link - totally over the top reaction. Take his legs out maybe - crack someone over the head with a running attack is completely over the top and uncalled for. Reminds me of the journalist that was attacked by the policeman on the horse during the strike
Dont you think that might have actually happened already? Are you one of those little scrotes running about in Peel Square? Cos yer very much sounding like it. Sorry if I’ve wound you up again.
This message board is increasing being dragged further and further towards the left. Ultra sensitive snowflakes when talking about race issues. And anti police.
