Think he’s been injured and is currently out of favour at Man City. Players should be picked for England based on recent performance not name in my opinion, so he wouldn’t get in my squad at the minute.
Better off out of it. England have gone backwards since Kane didn't square it to Sterling at 1-0 up in the World Cup Semi Final.
He's a better player than a few in the squad, but unfortunately he can't get in when he's not playing for City! Needed to move in the summer.
He should move to Tottenham. You dont even have to get in their team to play for England. (Dier, Winks)
Yep - how easy is it to be the England manager !?!?! Pick an 11 that’s playing the best at that current time. Pick another 11 as back up. And say ........ reight lads - get out there and enjoy yourself. Job done !!! As for Stones - he has been and probably still is the best player England has got. He can play in most positions - but I think because of his speed, height and passing ability he is wasted as a centre back - I think he would make a brilliant holding midfielder.
So if he leaves Man City for £25m we get.... (£2.3m x 15%) + (£48m x 15% - £2.3m x 15% ) + (£25m x 15% - £2.3m x 15% - £48m x 15%) divided by pi. I've got it.
He can't get a game at Man City and has had several injuries over the last few years. And when he does play, he's often put of form. I like John, and he's one of our own, and England do have a shortage of centre halves, but I don't think he warrants a place in the squad over any of the regular starters. Had he not withdrawn, Conor Coady would be the first choice centre half for me. One ex red I could make a case for though, Ethan Pinnock. Had he moved on in the summer, I've no doubt he'd have received an England call up by now.
In my opinion Dier is a midfield player who has been shoe horned into a centre back & if we havn"t got centre backs better than an average midfield player, then we have got problems.
He’s spent most of the last 18 months injured. His body seems to break down whenever he plays twice a week. Becoming the new Vincent Kompany in terms of injuries rather than performances unfortunately
